Re: for raspberry pi 3G dongle or GSM module for internet connectivity.

If you end up using one of the 3G dongles from providers such as Vodafone and Three, I'd recommend setting the dongle to MODEM mode, the Pi isn't 100% reliable when it comes to switch the mode from the virtual CD-ROM mode (which usually contains their dialer software) to MODEM so it can connect to t...

Re: Asus Tinker board

It could probably be a bit more obvious (there's nothing in the little manual about it) but hard to find? Took me all of a minute to spot it. Perhaps your click-foo needs more training :D

They are certainly chunky compared to the Pi.

Got my original Model B Pi delivered on 1st Jun 2012 - it was ordered on the first day, eventually, once I got the order page to load without timing out.

Re: Auto start internet on Raspberry using 3G Dongle and Sak

The most reliable way seems to be to power reset the dongle occasionally, so either a cold reboot or an additional hardware solution to reset power to the dongle. I'm using a GPIO pin on the Pi which is pulled high once a day; a small circuit detects this and interrupts the power to the 3G dongle wh...

Re: Auto start internet on Raspberry using 3G Dongle and Sak

I just have a Cron job that runs a script periodically to see if it can ping google.com and runs the autoconnect script if it can't. Something like ... #!/bin/sh if ! ping -q -c1 google.com; then /etc/init.d/autoconnectnet start fi You might find that the 3G Dongle disappears from the USB bus if the...

Poor abused Pi? It's being used to interface to the control systems of roller coasters and subway trains to kill people via bluetooth for "gore pr0n".!!

The foundation should stop selling it immediately.

Yes the programme is that bad.

Re: Rasp Pi 2 Delivery - empty box on delivery

A small number of people received empty boxes when the original Pi B launched IIRC so it's not without precedence.

Re: Invitation to order from RS

For those interested, I've just had a despatch notification from RS/Parcelforce. My order number was 11xxx with registered interest within the hour of zero hour launch.

It's been a long wait, but we're finally getting there.

In spec terms, RasPi kicks all of these into touch with ease.
It's a fab bit of kit for the price - I remember buying 4MB RAM to upgrade a 486 SX 33 Mhz in 1995 as a student for the sum of around £100. We've never had computing so cheap.
