Re: Home Automation System Manager

Yeah I thought that as an open source project the developers had made some strange choices which somewhat limit it as an open product - visual basic and windows based. I was thinking about designing something myself. As my university dissertation project I made a door access control system for the P...

Home Automation System Manager

Ok so we've all heard about home automation systems and there are loads of projects out there for the Pi however these are all entities within a home automation system, for example: sprinkler; IP camera, temperature sensor etc... Does anyone know of any projects which aim to combine all of these ent...

Xming issue

Hi I'm trying to run a program (jBerries) though SSH with Xming. Previously it worked but since changing the launch options of the program so it runs as sudo I can't get it to work over SSH. Re: Pi4J & GUI (swing)

Hi thanks for the reply.

I've been working on this problem solidly for a couple of days and I've learnt a lot about compiling and running java.
I know what was wrong with this so I guess the thread can be closed / left to die. I've got some new problems but I might start a new thread for them.

Re: Introducing JBerries

Yeah I managed to get it running on straight off the pi. I think i'll do as you suggested and compile in jBerries and run through terminal as sudo. I'm still very much in the early stages of properly understanding how to run/compile on the pi so I'm going to have to do some research in the mean time...

Re: Introducing JBerries

So close haha. I changed the start up script but I can't get it to run from terminal now. (I'm using SSH with Xming). Is this because of the config stuff and if so how do you change that? Here's what I get at the moment: [email protected] ~ $ sudo jberries & [1] 2454 [email protected] ~ $ PuTTY X11 proxy:...

Re: Introducing JBerries

Yes very helpful!

The only thing I'm stuck with now is this message:

Code: Select all

wiringPi
Must be root to call wiringPiSetup().
Did you forget sudo?
How do you tell the compiler to compile as sudo?

Re: Introducing JBerries

sounds interesting, going to give it a try now! Edit: Just had a little play around and I'm very happy as I managed to compile a program using jBerries which I previously couldn't workout how to do via terminal! :D Question: If I wanted to compile and run taking advantage of the pi4j library how wou...

Pi4J & GUI (swing)

Hi, I'm trying to develop an application which makes use of a java GUI framework and the Pi4J library to develop an application to control a PiFace. I'm developing on a windows machine using netbeans (Currently looking into automatic deployment to the Pi through SSH). So far I've built a little test...

Re: Integrating NetBeans for Raspberry Pi Java Development

Yeah I tried that and it doesn't exist.

Code: Select all

-bash: cd: .ssh: No such file or directory
How do I create it?

Re: Integrating NetBeans for Raspberry Pi Java Development

When connecting to the Pi from a windows machine it asks you to change the directory to .ssh. I'm a little confused on this bit "Change directory to .ssh and edit the authorized_keys file (don't worry if this does not exist). Paste the key information at the end of this file and save it." Can anyone...

Re: Pi-Face + Java + Pi4J

Hi Robert, this thread looks pretty dead but I can independently confirm that your latest snapshot fixes the problem. It was a long trail to find the fix from your original tutorial here: http://www.savagehomeautomation.com/piface to the posts in this google group https://groups.google.com/forum/#!t...

Re: issues running pi4j examples

It's a 4gb SD. Guess i need to expand the file system. I've just found it all a bit hard to work out because I'm doing it all through SSH which I'm also new at. And also Yes it will be full of crud I don't need. It's for a java project so I might get an image ready with everything on it I need minus...

Re: BBC Micro model B floppy drive

So from looking at all that it is in theory possible to connect them up and get them working but It's not just a simple case of connecting the power and ribbon cables together which sadly means it's probably beyond my ability.

BBC Micro model B floppy drive

Hi I've been lurking around the site for a while now waiting for stocks of the Pi to because available. However during my wait I decided to see where it all began and a couple of days ago I acquired a BBC model B and figured this would be one of the best forums to pose questions because it's very ac...
