Re: DOSBox doesn't work properly

I run it on Raspbmc which doesn't even have an x environment, so it doesn't need one.

Re: RetroPie Setup - Auto-installer/updater for RetroArch ga

I'm not near my pi for a while so can't answer these in detail, but here's what I know:- - Firstly, how do I get to the scraper? I don't use this, so I don't know, sorry! -Secondly, is there an easy way to change where RetroArch looks for rom files? Yes there is, I have mine on a usb HDD. You need t...

Re: RetroPie Setup - Auto-installer/updater for RetroArch ga

I also successfully used the xboxdrv as described above. Can't wait for it to be added to the script - this is great work. You would do me a great favour if you would post the relevant configuration steps and settings in order to adjust the key mappings to the emulator(s) :-) My image got corrupted...

Does it still log on and run as root? That's the only thing that put me off, last time I tried this.

Ditto. I'm aware this thread may get locked if it turns into a bitch-fest, but I'm also waiting for my refund. 2 months now. Could you please give your customer service guys a prod? Or provide us an alternative email address that may get responses?

Thanks.

Re: Dosbox. What have you got running.

I got Ufo Enemy Unknown (XCOM) working. Predictably, it's pretty slow. However I feel if someone with more knowledge than me took on the job of optimising DOSBOX for the Pi, it could have some significant speed gains.

Re: Latest Order and Shipping update from RS & Allied

Gotta love that quote up there from RS:-

"We are currently well within the 14 day period we quote to all our customers when they cancel and will continue to improve the delay our customers experience waiting for their credit"

Absolute rubbish. Two months and waiting, RS.

Re: OpenELEC vs Raspbmc vs Xbian

I've tried Xbian and Raspbmc and finally settled on Raspbmc. Superficially there's not much difference, but the developer behind Raspbmc has a long history with XBMC (ported it to AppleTV I think) and, as a programmer, seems to have a very sensible approach to development.

Re: XBian - Small, Fast, Lightweight XBMC solution

First off: Xbian is amazing. I have two questions:- 1) Is it a problem that it always logs in as root? We're constantly told this is "a bad thing"... I'd rather it logged in normally and used sudo to run. 2) In the future, will it be possible (or is it possible now) to hook up programs to the "progr...

Re: General RS Posts

Still haven't got my refund, been about 20-odd working days now since I requested it. Pretty sure that's against the law, RS.

I emailed, no response. I really don't want to have to mess about phoning up, but looks like I have no choice. Moral of the story: Use Element 14.

Re: Order Cancelled with RS

Also cancelled more than 14 days ago - still no refund. I've emailed to find out what's going on. If someone from RS could comment it'd stop me thinking of them as a bunch of crooks.

Re: Mouse pointer stuck at bottom - only moves left and righ

Ok, for anyone that's interested, here's my findings. Different power supply, no hub - same problem. HOWEVER - if I disconnect the ethernet, the problem pretty much disappears. I don't think it's a power problem, I think it's a usb/lan conflict of some kind, which would make sense given what I've re...

Re: Mouse pointer stuck at bottom - only moves left and righ

I also have this problem, with the same keyboard. Works fine in windows.... It's intermittent, too. Sometimes it's fine.

I'll run dmesg tonight and see if there's any info... Also, I might run a different flavour of Linux (using Raspbian) and see if that helps.

Re: Overclocking

I'm going to try overclocking tonight and would appreciate a little advice. This thread is a bit long to find what I'm looking for easily! So, to overclock I just use "arm_freq" to set the cpu speed to ~800mhz (as a starting point)? Yeah, arm_freq=800 is a good starting point. Remember over-volting...

Great stuff - I'm also interested in how these were compiled. I'm a reasonably experienced programmer, but have worked only in windows environments for about 10 years now... So I'm looking for any info on how to compile/work on Linux.

"Thanks" Thread

I don't know if there is already one of these, if so just lock it, but I couldn't see one and thought it was necessary. I've been reading the forums and there's a lot of "it doesn't do this" and "how do I get this on it" posts, with no thought for all the hard work that went into making this device ...

Re: Logik LP4HUB10 power problem fixed

It's plugged in right now (I'm typing this on my pi!) so I can't check, but I'm fairly sure it's 2A. I'm almost 10% on that. Also it's a barrel type, yes - I'm not up to spec on power supplies so I couldn't tell you the exact type, but it looks like the one you said.

Pretty sure it's the latter if these reports are true, seeing as I ordered before some people here and didn't get it yet.

As I say, it said 5 weeks so I'm in no rush - just a little confused about what's happening...
