Re: xbmc kept back on upgrade

You may have to do

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
as xbmc is a part of how the Pi runs and needs to make sure you want to change it.
Also make sure to reboot afterwards as changes may not be applied until a reboot!

Re: Experimental Building of Oolite source on Raspberry Pi

A bit of a late bump but arcem does work (on riscos pi, not raspbian or anything else really) with the right ROM and elite runs great with it - it's all in a nice easy tutorial in issue #13 if the Magpi!
Happy trading!

Re: startx failing to launch desktop

Just a note - I thought sound was fixed anyway? I installed the yt stuff for the pi, and started up the first video - Charlie bit my finger - and sound worked perfectly.
I still don't get Charlie bit my finger, though...

Re: You Tube videos Display poorly in Ice Weasel

It's the pi - really, it doesn't support it, or only a non-hardware-accelerated version which doesn't play very well... Try googling 'raspberry pi yt' and someone has incorporated omxplayer and YouTube-downloader to make a hardware accelerated terminal-based framebuffer YouTube player, which work br...

Re: Solve this;

It's part of the secret launch codes for a special missile to EMP EA headquarters, which will cause simcity 5 to become un-DRM'd*, free to play and open source somehow! * un-DRM'd is a mostly made up word which means 'to remove all DRM and make a single-player non-online version', or something like ...

Re: My rant on Pi's

I just want to make site you know about the OCR pages on the pi, as they are going to become very useful if you want to look at the computing side - at the moment the PDF resources there are based around basic use of the GPIO pins and Python, and I'm sure more will be seen soon! At the moment in try...

Re: Working On A New Website

Sorry but a .webs address? If you're serious about this buy a domain, and get someone to make a 'proper' website. If you don't want to get someone to make the site, try yourself - start somewhere like codecademy!
P.S. Google is your new best friend ;)

Re: What is the best internet browser experience ?

I'm surprised no one has mentioned netsurf much, as it's great up until the point you need JavaScript... And for that I would reccomend epiphany (the package is epiphany-browser) which is incredibly basic (more so than dillo), about as fast as midori on a good day, and handles JavaScript perfectly w...

Re: Minecraft Pocket Edition World on pi edition?

I'm not sure - you may have to manually copy the world file from your iPad onto the Pi though... (Try the same way you'd add texture packs to MCPE, but backwards and with worlds instead (google it)) You can do it the other way easily though - just use MCPE's copy world facility while connected to yo...

How did you break it so quickly? :?:

Great, thanks ;)
I'll do this when I next get on the Pi!
It's interesting that it won't work in X though...
Thanks anyway, and I hope this can help others with similar problems!
