Re: Replacing the Pi3 ethernet port?

or you could use the usb/rj45 plug in hub or similar as linked to above, its even going to provide you with an additional couple of usb ports for wireless mouse/keyboard dongles you can hide internally. No i cannot as the USB port will be removed too apart from the power port. I am lowering the Pi'...

Re: Replacing the Pi3 ethernet port?

I found these very useful diagrams it turns out i need 8 pins and the other 4 are for the 2 LEDs. I could buy some RJ45s with trasformer buold in and tear it down to the trasformer and circuit or if somone could confirm with external trasormer circuit shuld i buy then i would go for that. https://ww...

You can cut it up and make it smaller. Only the rear half of the ethernet port is actually needed, the rest is wires for physical connection and plastic.
This is what i was thinking too it seems like the simplest solution...

Re: Replacing the Pi3 ethernet port?

What do you consider the hard part? The details of those magnetics are on page 3 of https://docs-emea.rs-online.com/webdocs/0649/0900766b806496c8.pdf If you look on the Pi site for the circuits of the earlier Pis, you'll see how the socket is connected. Re: Replacing the Pi3 ethernet port?

Yes you need the magnetics. They're in the port, which is only millimeters away from the Pi. Yes you need all eight wires. No the Pi doesn't have gbe, what it does have is 10/100 which is shared with the USB bus. You can expect no better than ~35mbps I know its not GbE this was notnthe question tha...

Why not just reuse the ethernet jack you removed from the Pi?
Its fiddly to solder but not impossible (I managed to do it)
Becuse like is said i want to lower the profile, its too bulky. I might have left it put if i was to go with that...

Re: Direct connection Ethernet (no RJ45)

HI, As rpdom said, the RJ45 socket is integrated with LAN transformer. But if you really want to do it, then I'll tell you that you need a Ethernet transformer with 1CT:1CT ratio - I recently I committed a circuit (schematic so far) using LAN9514... How do i connect these trasformers you recomended...

Re: AlexaPi or GassistPi voice triggered locally executed script - how to?

In the GassistPi: I have found a solution by manipulating the actions.py file at the end and replacing the shutdown comand with ./example.sh thst is my script and it executes with a voice comand that i used to replace the word shutdown.
Im am told that in AlexaPi this is not possible.

Have you thought about separate transformers? http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/lan-ethernet-transformers/5225917/?origin=PSF_430731|acc Or Digikey sell https://www.digikey.co.uk/product-detail/en/wurth-electronics-inc/74980111211/732-4517-1-ND/4147412 How do i connect these trasformers you recomended,...
