Re: Relays / Mosfets

+1 for optoisolator. Simplest, safest and widely used on industrial boards for digital inputs, even 230AC ones.

Re: problem read analog value LDR sensor for raspberry pi

Code: Select all

while (GPIO.input(pin_to_circuit) == GPIO.LOW):
        count += 1
if pin not goes up, this will hang forever, also pretty lame and solution to measure length of pulse, you definitely should use or write another solution.

Flowing SPI frequency with core_freq

I have noticed, and according to failed to drive ws2812b LEDs, that SPI frequency is computed from core_freq and driver is not correcting this on the run. So where you need stable SPI frequency, you have to be sure you have dynamic frequency disabled or have core_freq constant, which is not possible...

Re: Python version issues?

You have to realize, that first parameter "self" is refering to instance of class/object. And you give it by calling that instance, not passing as parameter. So instead of this: instance = SomeClass() SomeClass.function(instance, parameter1, parameter2 ...) is used to use this: instance = SomeClass(...

Ok, it was just a question.

Github repository, I was talking about, is here github.com/WiringPi

Re: Want 17 PWM channels on the Pi?

WiringPi via git:
Why not use github, where also are bindings?

Re: RS232 Thermal Printer

No It's about voltage polarity (and then current direction). One direction and it's opposite. 0V is undefined state. Not mentioned, that 0V on GPIO probably is'n exact 0V. So in your specification is sad: Logic 1 is readed when voltage is from -3V to -12V, Logic 0 is readed when voltage is from +3V ...

Re: RS232 Thermal Printer

Well, it's true i have not DTR and CTS signal's on RPi UART, but question is: Do you need them? I mean, do you need them as part of UARTs port? For first look, them looks like only as state indication and power control. I would try use them from normal GPIO. max3232 has twi inputs and two outputs, s...

No, it is about distribution.

Re: Socket Server to send strings/data from lan to serial ?

Well, it depends. Mainly on how fast it would be. Uart is always bottleneck and you'll have to set and control size of read and write buffer and work with that buffers from different threads. queue.Queue will do that for you, so I would use it. So on one side socket , as was mentioned, because it ca...
