Re: Security warning on raspberrypi.org?

I had the same, and had to add:

Code: Select all

phplist.com, raspberrypi.org
To Equivalent Domains

Though I'm going to be watching this, since I can seeing making phplist.com an equivalent possibly being a problem.

Re: Anyone in Manchester UK? Paid Help needed

I clearly misunderstood some of the responses. MrShadowCat, I'd be happy to help, though arranging may be a problem, since there doesn't appear to be a PM facility here, unless someone can point me to it? EDIT: And there's no question of paying me. We're a sharing and helping community, not a "for p...

Thank heavens I wasn't impulsive. I work in Manchester, and was born there. Thankfully, don't live there anymore. Last night, I was tempted to offer help. Not so tempted now.

Ermm - what ads

Disclosure. Arch Linux user, and I don't recall a single ad anywhere.

Is this, by any chance, part of the ad supported model that Windows has adopted?

Re: Add external hard drive

I currently have the drive formatted to NTFS and have the appropriate drivers installed. How do I find the path to the hard drive so that I can add it to tvheaden? You need to mount it. First find the device node to the drive with sudo fdisk -l It will probably be /dev/sda or similar. The partition...

motion(eye) losing cameras

I know I had this first time around, and have no idea how I fixed it (previously Stretch, now Buster). I have a 3B+ with two HP webcams attached, and motioneye installed. The boot is a little unusual, since the 3B+ boots from an NFS drive attached to a 4B. Booting is fine, and the OS runs well. Ther...

You need to edit /etc/fstab to match the new location as well.
For clarity, that's /etc/fstab on the NEW root partition. But you can simply comment out the / mount in the new fstab.

The lack of useful information is astounding.

Re: How to control several Raspberry pi s from faraway ( From UK to India)

If you can get port forwarding set up in India - use a different port than 22 on each Pi (and a different port for each) then have that ssh port forwarded to the respective Pis.

Then when you log in, you specify the correct port and it will connect to the correct Pi.

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 Thread - general discussion

Even if I get 10 - 15C reduction I'll be happy. Current idling at 57C with no cooling at all. The shim brings it down ~20'c lower when active. Mine is set for 65'c activate and 55'c switch off. As yourself my 4B/4 hovers around 57'c and when I tested the shim (activated all the time) the temperatur...

Re: how many pi's

I have 4 3B/3B+ and one 4B. The 4B is my NAS/Plex server/PiHole, chosen for those tasks because of the USB3 and ethernet speed. One 3B (the Only 3B - not plus) is a retropi, one 3B+ is a clock, with something running behind it (I forget what right now), one is a NextCloud server, and the remaining o...

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 Thread - general discussion

Pimoroni has the Fan Shim , which is a cool solution for adding a fan (pun intended). You'd still need to leave the lid off or add vent holes. pimoroni_fan-shim.jpg I literally just ordered one of these before I came to the forums. I use the stackable PI cases, so shouldn't need to make any mods th...

NextCloudPI and apparmor

I have a few PIs, one of which is exclusively a NextCloud server using the pre-made NextCloudPI image. Just updating, and it's recommending apparmor. Now, I've been around Linux a long time (I use Arch exclusively on my desktop and laptop machines, and have used various distros (previously Debian) e...

Well that was a chore

After setting up my Pi4 as an NFS/PiHole server to replace a 3B+ which was doing the job, and serving the OSs for the other PIs via NFS, and realising my 500GB external drive was getting close to capacity, I decided to migrate everything to a 1TB (this was last week). My lesson from all this was don...

I did, unfortunately. However, some of the most precious may be on my phone, or other people's phone. I've lost 40 years of memories, but I may be able to get back the most important by contacting the right people, checking my social media posts, going back to old digital cameras and see what surviv...

OMG - I can't believe I did this

I have literally trashed all my media and my PI NFS boots. So long version, I was upgrading to a 1TB drive from a 500Gb, since space was getting low. rsync is the better option, but I decided to clean the drive first. I cleaned twice, and have cleared both copies. All videos (replaceable), music (mu...

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 usb boot?

Honestly, are people too dumb to do this. Boot an SDcard mounted as /boot, and handover rootfs to whatever the hell you want. It isn't rocket science, it doesn't strain your SDCard, and it will boot with any connected USB drive up to terrabytes. Simply because it won't boot directly from USB doesn't...
