Re: USB - the Elephant in our Room

Note the workaround the RaspI DLSR grip project guy had to use: http://www.raspberrypi.org/archives/1824 http://davidhunt.ie/?p=2641 "After a few requests to the camera, the gphoto app responds with “Unknown Error”, and the only solution seems to be to unplug the usb cable and re-insert it. Not a wo...

Re: Java on Raspbian

Some comments on schedule in that blog post: "The initial release of the Oracle JDK for ARM uses the softfloat ABI and so works on softfloat distributions, or hardfloat with softfloat compatibility, but not on hardfloat. This is just a matter of timing - we will provide a hardfloat JDK at some point...

Re: Bug reporting in Raspbian

" I'll look into it this weekend and discuss with the others what should be done."

Thanks. I know the Foundation will only support whatever they are currently recommending, but it would be great to know where to pick up older work.

Re: Raspbian on Raspberry Pi Front Page

"I don't believe this precludes the Foundation in the future producing other "official" images based on Fedora, Gentoo or other Linux distributions" The Foundations downloads page is effectively that list of official distributions. They control which images goes there and stay there and can take mor...

Re: Raspbian on Raspberry Pi Front Page

"The Raspbian image we release will be the one recommended for most users"

YMMV

Re: Raspbian on Raspberry Pi Front Page

"We’re hoping to release an official image based on Raspbian, the hard-float optimised port of the Debian operating system for the Raspberry Pi, over the next few days." (Liz) "Looking at the front page, it looks like the Foundation is spilling the beans that future official images from the Raspberr...
