Re: Possible error in RP User Guide example

That was the problem. When I ran

$ sudo apt-get install libraspberrypi0

I got a message saying something like "package being held due to broken dependancies"; when I fixed that and reinstalled libraspberrypi0 the snake progam ran properly.

Thanks to all who responded to this thread.

Re: Possible error in RP User Guide example

Thanks for the replies.

I actually did update the system recently:

$ sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

When I run

$ readelf -Ws /opt//vc/lib/libbcm_host.so | grep palette

there is no output at all.

Re: Possible error in RP User Guide example

Thanks. I separated those into two lines, and now get the following error when I run the code: [email protected] ~ $ ./raspberry-snake.py Traceback (most recent call last): File "./raspberry-snake.py", line 3, in <module> import pygame, sys, time, random File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/pygame...

Possible error in RP User Guide example

My son just got the Pi coding bug, so we started with some examples from the Python chapter of the first edition of the RP User Guide. At the end of this post is the code from "Example 3: Gaming with pygame [Raspberry Snake], on pages 162-171. When we run the program we get the following: [email protected]...

Re: Wolfson audio card zip file unzippable

Unfortunately that doesn't work either - at least not with "Keka". (See http://www.element14.com/community/thre ... w-download )

I guess I'll just keep trying different macos 7-zip versions.

Thanks again, Ragnar

Wolfson audio card zip file unzippable

I've downloaded and tried unzipping http://downloads.element14.com/wolfson/wolfson_3.10_master.zip on two different machines, to no avail. On both machines I used "unzip", which exited with the following error: sh-4.2$ unzip wolfson_3.10_master.zip Archive: wolfson_3.10_master.zip warning [wolfson_3...

Re: Apple IIe Pi

My latest project integrates my two favorite computers: the Apple II and the Raspberry Pi. Is it an Apple IIe upgrade or an elaborate Raspberry Pi case? You be the judge. http://youtu.be/BX2VWZQCtkU Source to the Apple II and Linux code available here: github.com/dschmenk/apple2pi Dave... Nice. I'd...

Check out the Vancouver Hackspace. Tuesdays are open nights, and evidently have become something of a Pi love-in.

There are three manufacturers of the boards, and they have unique board revs: '0002' => 'Model B Revision 1.0', '0003' => 'Model B Revision 1.0 + Fuses mod and D14 removed', '0004' => 'Model B Revision 2.0 256MB', (Sony) '0005' => 'Model B Revision 2.0 256MB', (Qisda) '0006' => 'Model B Revision 2....

Re: Part number for pre-assembled Gertboard

Atlanta Ga (Actually Buford GA on lake Lanier). Saw some one else in the south got a Pi also. Looks like a large number may have. Yeah, what's up with that? Question is do they refund the difference or do we send them back or what. I would prefer to keep it (and pay $ 35) and also get a Gertboard. ...

Re: Part number for pre-assembled Gertboard

My Newark order just arrived What I thought was a gertboard. An evelope inside of an envelope was clearly marked GERTBOM. Invoice also says GERTBOM 24W8739. But when I opened it there was another box in side. Opening the box I find a Raspberry Pi 512K. Considering all and all I dont know if I shoul...

Re: Part number for pre-assembled Gertboard

I can confirm the part number of 46W9829 for "BOARD, GERTBOARD ASSEMBLED" from Newark/Element14 in the US. Technical support & customer service at Newark helped me deal with a missing R23 from my recently received Gertboard kit - their solution was for me to return the kit to be replaced with the a...

That's a distinct possibility, as the UK and North American sites have different part numbers for the Pi itself.

Part number for pre-assembled Gertboard

On August 10 I ordered a Gertboard from Farnell's North American warehouse through http://canada.newark.com Yesterday I received what I thought was my unassembled Gertboard. Unfortunately the package contained a Raspberry Pi 512 instead of a Gertboard. I phoned Newark customer service as soon as the...
