Re: Raspberry Pi4 bootloader beta update and new stable release stream
Maybe a dumb question, but when flashing the bootloader, is it persistent? I can swap sd cards, reinstall Raspian/OctoPrint etc, and the bootloader will stay updated? Updated on an eeprom similar to a BIOS?

Re: How to update Java on Raspbian
That's perfect! I never found a method like this, although I suspected it was something that was straight forward. Just seemed that EVERYBODY had trouble with it, hence why webupd8team stepped in. Here is the command list I used to get up and running on 8u202: sudo mkdir /usr/java cd /usr/java sudo ...

[SOLVED] How to update Java on Raspbian
So I've tried about every guide I could find online, and they all end up going nowhere. They all seem to use the "webupd8team" method. This really shouldn't be this hard. Is there some easier way to get this done, or is that just not something that can be done on the Raspberry Pi 3B+? I'm ...

Re: 3D Printed Liquid Cooled Raspberry Pi Desktop - The Core
Sure. My next video will be on overclocking, so I'll look at including CPU burning.Imperf3kt wrote: ↑Sat Jan 12, 2019 7:22 pmWould be interesting to see how CPUburn A53 goes on your setup.
Do you think you could spare a while to run a test?

Re: 3D Printed Liquid Cooled Raspberry Pi Desktop - The Core
Of course it's overkill. But then again, I can overclock to 1.6GHz stable (no crashes in almost 6 hours of testing so far. I turn it off at night), and my temps never bump over 28C. My goal is to use it for a home media server, OctoPi camera server, and second PC while I stream on my laptop (on Twit...

3D Printed Liquid Cooled Raspberry Pi Desktop - The Core
This is my biggest project for the Raspberry Pi. Spent MONTHS designing this, and over 100 test prints of various parts. This is essentially the final product. I may or may not add more to it later. If you have any questions, let me know. If you have ideas or suggestions for the next version, I'd lo...

Re: Possible to boot from USB AND SDCARD?
Is there some way to change the boot order? I'd like it to look at the USB devices first, THEN if nothing is found to be bootable, proceed to the sdcard. I want to be able to boot from USB to do some offline maintenance every so often, and not have to disassemble my tower to remove the sdcard (you'...

Re: Possible to boot from USB AND SDCARD?
Perfect. I just wanted to be sure I didn't do something I couldn't fix. I know these aren't $2500 computers (like my laptop), but still, I'd prefer to be careful. I'm going to try that out this afternoon, and I'll let you know what happens. Thanks for the clarification.

Possible to boot from USB AND SDCARD?
I have the RPi 3 B+, mounted inside a custom 3D printed case. Getting to the microSD card isn't easy. I read that you can change the Pi to boot from USB using the OTP bit. But I'm left with a lingering question. Once that bit is set to allow booting from USB, will it continue to boot from the microS...

Re: Does the Pi3 actually have "firmware"?
There is no upgradable code on the Pi board. The SOC contains some fixed ROM code to boot then GPU and find a device with a boot partition. On later Pi2 and Pi3 models this can be SDCard, USB, or network. Earlier models can only boot from SDCard. There is some OTP (one time programmable) ROM that c...

Does the Pi3 actually have "firmware"?
I'm and Android guy, so I'm plenty familiar with how "firmware" works. However, when it comes to the Pi3, it seems to get hazy. For example, on a cell phone, there are is a bootloader partition, which is upgradable through software flashing. The "firmware" resides on the /system ...

Re: Overclocking Raspberry Pi 3
So, after reading this I still didn't find an answer to the original question. My Pi 3 also says that it cannot be overclocked. How is it that some of you are overclocking, and some of us have Pi's that say it can't?
