Re: 20x4 i2c lcd lines out of order.

I've done some research and the initial fork from Arduino put the code in public domain, I'm going to use the GNU license and hope the guy on Amazon who did some of the conversion to raspberry pi didn't put a license on it.

Re: 20x4 i2c lcd lines out of order.

Hi @natbett i found this code and have used it on my raspberry pi. I have ported it to micro:bit code and was going to put it in a repository on GitHub what license should i use. I personally use the GNU license when i authored the code from an empty text editor, but if i port it i always leave the ...

Add/remove software gui needs user pi.

I have disabled user pi with a view to deleting it. I now can't use the add/remove software gui. It launches ok, but when i try to install something (click apply) it prompts me for the password for either users root or pi. Both accounts are locked and i never have been given a root password. Is ther...

Using the jumper cables which are used to link a raspberry pi and bread board. Individual wires that is (M to F wires), not a ribbon cable and cobbler can easily be soldered to components.

The information regarding the fan going crazy before the raspberry pi dies. Is there enough current supplied to those gpio pins to power a fan. I would have thougth a transistor and seperate power in the collector emitter circuit.

You may be lucky , that is as i type this your raspberry pi is working again. If a mirical cure hasn't happened within 30 mins of you shorting pins on the gpio then the computer is probably dead

Re: Newbie, cannot get a Hellow World to run. please help

I can't verify this but it appears that %e expands to the file name without .c to run the command in a terminal type /home/pi/Public/C_Programs/Test1 If geany has an execute button type /home/pi/Public/C_Programs/%e Stop typing sudo before your commands. sudo gives you super user authority (root pri...

I'm on my phone so it's not ideal. Your cron job to shutdown the raspberry pi on the 29th appears to begin shutting down at 17.00.12 but begins starting things at 17.00.13 are you rebooting the computer or shutting it down?

Re: Geany Debug Tab Not Shown

Geany is quite buggy.
Try 'gdb' in a terminal window.
Add breakpoints with b followed by a line number
run to start the program being debugged
print variable-name to inspect a variable

I'd use light bulbs for the oven and washing machine. The oven draws a decent current and generates lots of heat. The washing machine has a current drain only (water heater and motors)

Re: Connecting Pi to The Cloud for WiFi

Have you entered your wifi password in your wpa_supplicant. It's in your /etc directory

Code: Select all

find /etc -name '*wpa*' 2>/dev/null
will locate it. I would give a more exact location but my raspberry pi is out on loan

Re: USB Drive Mounting issue. (keeps asking for permission to mount)

Plug a usb drive in, ignore the password request. In a terminal type

Code: Select all

udisksctl mount -b /dev/sdb1
It's some thing like that which is being ran by your operating system (raspbian)
