Re: raspistill annotate date

This was very helpful. I am, however, seeing an issue with the -dt option. perhaps I am not using it correctly. This is my command: raspistill -n -t 1000 -w 640 -h 480 -a 1036 -ae +25+25 -dt -o /mnt/usbdisk1/stills/camera-test%04d.jpg Which works beautifully for annotation, however the resultant fil...

glxgears from mesa-utils pkg works. but slow

hello i have latest raspian image (2014-12-22) and did rpi-update. I've installed mesa-utils with sudo apt-get install mesa-utils . and then i ran the 'glxgears' command. i get the rotating gears to show in a window, but performance is slow. 20 fps :( Q: Can GLX performance be improved on the r-pi? ...

Re: precision Aluminum Case for B+

Well, the precision Aluminum Case from http://LUKSE.LT arrived today. And its very nicely made indeed. Below are some pictures. See contact information in the OP. I've taken the new case to my place of work and everyone agrees it gives the R-Pi B+ a professional feel. I think that anyone who gets th...

IzzardKing: why not just get a case from the lukse.lt website? He has plenty left and im pretty sure you're gonna like it.

Re: precision Aluminum Case for B+

dan, I was thinking of having the complete metal case installed on top of the Acrylic plate. And having the acrylic extend about 3 to 4mm beyond the case all the way around. Kind of a like a 'pedestal' type thing. Then modify the bottom half of the case to pass a single Neopixel thru. I may need to ...

Re: precision Aluminum Case for B+

I just ordered mine. I also have this idea of mounting the case flat on a machined plate of Acrylic ( plexiglas ) about the same dimensions as the case's bottom half. Perhaps have 4 to 5 mm sticking out in the front. Then use a Blue LED to illuminate the Acrylic. This would make only the edges of th...

Re: ModMyPi Mk.2 USB Hub, 2.5'' HDD, Patch Bay, On/Off - Ide

I agree with 'cyrano' above. A metal or 'metallized plastic' case would be good to keep RFI/EMI low. Also, im not fond of the 4 external USB ports. It makes the case too large. Maybe there are other USB Hub designs with 2 ports on one side of the PCB, & two ports on the other. That way we could have...

Yeah, perhaps im barking up the wrong tree here. And perhaps its just electrical design problem like mung eluded to in his/her post. But then again.... what if it is a problem with the Synopsys USB core and/or kernel driver? What if the problem is serious and no one can fix it? What if...... :o Well...

@mung : thanks. but i did all the dmesg...lsusb....tail -f syslog i want to do. I know the R-Pi is community supported, but I just want a cheap webcam thats UVC compatible to work OOB with my R-Pi running Raspian. And not have to deal with all this low-level kernel driver stuff. drivers for the Synopsys USB controller in BCM2835 are [email protected]

<BEGIN RANT> I read this today in the forum: "drivers for the Synopsys USB controller in the BCM2835 are a bit crap " Issues in the R-Pi Forums that might be resolved with a better USB controller driver: 1. Stickey keys. 2. Poor USB thoughput when using a simple webcam (UVC) at anything higher then ...

strange vgrabbj problem

Well, first off in daemon mode, its way slow. but thats not the real problem here. and it seems to only work with ForcedPalette set to 4 ( -F 4 ). But thats not the real problem either. {sorry for the rant} Its that in single shot VGA mode, I can only seem to get vgrabbj to pull down a 'cif' or 'sif...

Note: The map is rather CPU intensive for the R-Pi. So its best to vi...

Re: Are the Gertboards here?

Can the Gertboard's I2C Bus be extended to other I2C slave devices without causing problems to the AD and DA chips that are currently there? My thought is to add an I2C Bus Extender chip* to drive 10 meters of 2-pair telephone cable to another bus extender chip and ultimately to a slave I2C device. ...

I didn't check to see if this was said already but my 10 year old son was just introduced to StopMotion on Ubuntu and he loves it. He had previously been using an Android app on his LG phone to create short animation films. So if StopMotion could be added to the standard Raspian distro, I think lots...

Re: Are the Gertboards here?

Gert, Can you tell me the best way to stay on top of the Gertboard/Farnell situation? I waited a bit too long and ended up in the 2nd shipment of R-Pi boards. And that was disappointing at best. I'd rather not have that be the case with the Gertboards too. Will you give us all a few days heads up? P...
