unzip 3dsw12.zip SWSW12.SHR unzip SWSW12.SHR SW.RTS SW.GRP rm 3dsw12.zip SWSW12.SHR rename 'y/A-Z/a-z/' * Awesome, and now I'm glad to learn the proper idiom to change files to lowercase. Re: Introducing Pi386

Hey DarkPlatinum, Although not 100% positive, I'm a bit skeptical that your problem is code_exec's build being out of sync. I replace my kernel with much more drastic changes and I don't think updates to the official Raspbian kernel could cause this to break so quickly. When you say it does not work...

Re: x86 on the Raspberry Pi with jessie chroot

Hey code_exec, just wanted to lend my support to cheer you on. It's great that you're doing this. It appears that WINE on the Pi in 2012 could run apps that could run on Windows RT and Windows CE (both versions of Windows made for ARM processors), and there aren't many of those. Pi386, however, lets...

Re: Compiling Error JFSW, Shadow Warrior port

(Exactly one year later) If you look at the source for a.nasm, it's x86 assembly which certainly won't work on the Pi. The solution is to remove a.o + libengine.a and continue building with make NOASM=1 I came across and had to fix other build annoyances like a conflicting declaration for startwin_r...

That's right! First announced with a Jessie update in 2016: https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/anothe ... n-release/

And I think the release of Raspbian Stretch in August 2017 is when they removed the "experimental" tag.

Just found this old thread. It seems most users interested in Quake 2 on the Pi are now using full OpenGL with the yquake2 master branch. New thread for reference: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=180667 I had been wondering about running Quake 2 on bcm_host + proprietary Broadcom ...

Yes OK if one has knowledge one can get an open-source equivalent to Exagear working. So yes I will detract all my previous comments. Though am I correct that it only achieves x86-32 ??? Is this similar which code_exec achieves ? Thanks for the link. It appears that code_exec has built upon ...

Hey darkbibble, Not sure if you've moved on from this in the past 7 months, but I'll take a stab at answering your question. Three Python-enabled 3D engines that come to mind are Blender, Panda3D, and Python-Ogre. To date the work getting Blender to run on the Pi has it rendering at about 1 fps and ...

Re: 64-bit operating system

Awesome tutorials, sakaki! I got a bit fed up with Raspbian being so hostile to multiarch out of the box while it would just work on Pi64 or Ubuntu. After getting a better understanding of the APT rules and poking around at this, I've turned my hacks into a script for patching 64-bit Raspbian. This ...

Re: Source code for the minecraft-pi libbcm_host wrapper?

Thanks for responding and uploading so promptly. Source code for the minecraft-pi libbcm_host wrapper?

On Raspbian Stretch, there is a handy library at /opt/minecraft-pi/lib/mesa/libbcm_host.so.1.0 It's the shim that allows Minecraft Pi to run on the modern Mesa GLES driver despite the game's codebase having been compiled and linked for the old proprietary Broadcom driver. Where is the original sourc...

Re: Minecraft Pi edition crashing

Sorry that nobody has a certain answer for this. The fact that it runs on the B+ without issues but fails on the Zero helps to rule out that you don't have any gross software misconfiguration. Based on what you've said a best guess is that it's due to less RAM (512 MB) on the Zero vs the B+ (1 GB). ...

Re: Latest Version of Firefox(and Thunderbird) on a Raspberry Pi

You are both kind of right. Problems arise when Firefox is too old (unsupported), too new (breaking changes), or built with the incorrect settings. Because the Mozilla team has stated armhf Linux to be a third-tier platform, even the builds that don't crash probably have subpar performance and other...

Re: Ubuntu Mate with Raspbian kernel: New Firefox 55.0.1 crashes on startup

@Ignatiamus @guy67400,

I posted a workaround to run Firefox 57 Quantum via MultiArch, although that's only suitable for the Pi 3.

Ironically it's straightforward to do on Ubuntu MATE but would likely be difficult on Raspbian.
