Re: Instructions for building XBMC for Raspbian

Hi, I've just created a repository for XBMC debian packaging here : https://github.com/Diaoul/xbmc-rbp-packaging The goal is to use automatic tools to create the debian package (pbuilder here) on both an emulated Raspberry Pi or a true one. This is still a work in progress so feel free to submit pu...

Re: Debian packages for xbmc-rbp

I'm glad to see that someone has actually packaged this properly :-) Your prebuilt package of xbmc-rbp seems to be an older version however (11.0~git20120707.9e56f42 vs 11.0~git20120715.2acdae7-2) and so it isn't installable with the xbmc-rbp-bin package. Would you mind uploading the newer version ...

Debian packages for xbmc-rbp

Decided to make a own thread for these as the posts get always buried quite fast in the building xbmc thread. As there haven't been any takers for maintaining these in a actual repo, I decided to upload the binary packages too for people to test. You can find them in 'prebuilt' directory. They are b...

Re: Instructions for building XBMC for Raspbian

I'm just preparing .deb installation file of XBMC, if anyone would be interested to test it ? Wow, this sounds great. I'm certain there will be a lot of interest in this and a lot of feedback on the specific configuration options you chose. Being able to install/deinstall XBMC as a .deb is about as...

Re: How is everyone compiling the armhf code?

I use distcc and an cross compiler. Typically less problems than with attempting to strictly cross compile since configure scripts run natively. http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=11803 I played around with qemu-user, but found that pretty much like compiling on the pi speedwise....

Re: RPI-Update

You really don't need it anymore as the files are now distributed from apt repository.

Raspbian distcc guide

I already posted this link on #raspbian but here it is for people not on there:

Hopefully that's some use for someone. Anyone with access to some related wiki, feel free to wikify it.

Re: Instructions for building XBMC for Raspbian

silas, It seems to work for me. Are you sure you're running xbmc-standalone NOT xbmc.bin directly? I see the fbset output on tty after quitting xbmc. I just got the mode by running just fbset, added the mode it outputs to /etc/fb.modes and just use fbset -fb /dev/fb0 "1812x1020" in xbmc-standalone

Re: packages you want to see in raspbian

As my Debian sources for xbmc-rbp get buried quite quickly in building xbmc thread I'll post link to them in here. Maybe someone in raspbian is eager to maintain them and we would get it prebuilt with apt ;)

Re: Instructions for building XBMC for Raspbian

I think becauses xbmc changes the resolution of the hdmi, the console framebuffer gets removed. You can probably get it back by using fbset after quitting xbmc. Nice, thanks for the tip. Added fbset for my mode to /usr/bin/xbmc-standalone to run after exiting xbmc. We'll see how it plays out. Anyon...

Re: Instructions for building XBMC for Raspbian

@beini Does this mean that AirPlay (airtunes) will never be supported then This raspbian image is by far the fastest method of XBMC out there and I have found all my plugins work as for on other os like openelec and raspbmc had some issues with some plugins, But for me AirPlay is a must its the mai...

Re: Instructions for building XBMC for Raspbian

Doh, just realised that the first debian source files I uploaded were wrong ones (and probably non-working ones, too) Sorry if anyone tried to build those and it failed. Here's the files for the current git head. Biggest change is that now the .orig tarball is generated with the upstream script and ...

Re: Instructions for building XBMC for Raspbian

Here's the source files for building a debian package out of this. Just some hacks to the upstream packaging files. Hopefully, someone will pick these up, as I have no intention to maintain these. (I find debian packaging to be PITA, PKGBUILDs for the win ;)). Build time was few hours with distcc co...

Run it with --no-tests or see my post above about removing those tests.

Re: Instructions for building XBMC for Raspbian

Here's how to remove the unneeded checks for hardware acceleration so you don't need to run it with "--no-tests" parameter. head -n 171 "/usr/share/xbmc/FEH.py" > "/usr/share/xbmc/FEH.py.new mv "/usr/share/xbmc/FEH.py.new" "/usr/share/xbmc/FEH.py Is there a way to run xbmc windowed, or anyway that l...

Re: Instructions for building XBMC for Raspbian

Thank you for the instructions. I have now succesfully build it and it took about 2h with distcc. Here's some of my notes about the process: 1. ./configure fails without 'zip' and 'unzip installed, and they are missing from the apt-get install list. 2. Symlinking and copying to system directories ju...
