I think there is something more going on. I have only two entries in fstab for the two usb sticks I'm using. "If you just want the stick mounted at boot time, you need to use either /etc/fstab or a systemd mount unit."

Ok, thanks for the reply. I'll try that.

It is pathetic that such a step is necessary in 2019.
