Re: Jessie Q&A

I noticed that the elinux.org and raspbian.org sites have not been updated to reflect this wonderful evolution. Is anyone here involved with updating those wikis? or is anyone here able to send them copy?

Re: Raspberry Pi in Sarasota, FL?

I just got my RP2 up and running, and want to learn about using the GPIOs. Is there a user group in or near Sarasota, FL? Emeyeraway, Central Florida Raspberry Pi User Group is based in Orlando and we've had members travel from Jacksonville, Tampa, and Gainesville to attend. http://www.meetup.com/C...

I suspect the power supply even though you've tried 2 that worked before. Have you added any other hardware peripherals such as wireless dongle, etc that could be drawing more power?

Although this is resolved, more insight can be found reading this announcement from Collabra regarding wayland and X11 : http://www.collabora.com/press/2013/05/collabora-brings-wayland-and-x11-graphics-performance-to-raspberry-pi.html Here's a quote from some fellow named Eben that was tinkering aro...

So it begins, Will they be successful with a the online flash-based version? Did they miss the opportunity to remain on board with the Raspberry Pi? Will they evolve into a multi-platform distribution strategy? In my eyes, ...they will succeed as it is a fantastic application unto itself. ...the 1.4...

Re: Help stop price gouging online

A cap would be an issue for those of us teaching. The hackerspace I participate in, FamiLAB, has just made a purchase of 10 units in order to do a workshop. Consider what a cap would do to that scenario?

Re: Help stop price gouging online

I think we are in the "initial conditions" stage (which is usually the most dynamic) of a complex situation regarding the market for this amazing device. The next stage will include the larger demands from schools and other organizations that will be larger than the individual market we are seeing n...

Re: Help stop price gouging online

This is by far the most interesting conversation I've observed today and I really appreciate the relevance of each of the viewpoints. I didn't realize my post would stimulate such a controversy. I intended to raise awareness on the issue that a major Internet reseller (or in this case platform of va...

Jamesh,
My use of the term criminal was intentionally overstated for dramatic effect! I appreciate your editorial insight and will settle for immoral. I really just want to raise awareness and spread the word to keep a watch on this sort of thing.

Cheers!

Help stop price gouging online

As I was making a few last minute search queries online today I saw that Amazon.com suggested that I purchase a Raspberry Pi for $65. I followed the link and did more research to find that the lowest price for a Raspberry Pi on Amazon from over 15 resellers was $51.99 plus over $11.00 for shipping. ...

I've contacted the Scratch team at MIT and they responded quickly. The word for now is that Scratch 2.0 is not in beta yet and has a projected release by the end of the year. We can only wait and ponder. Until it's release, we can all monitor the progress at the Scratch Team Bog: http://blog.scratch...

I am still hoping that any and all implementations of Scratch will be repaired so that the push and pull features for saving and retrieving projects to the Scratch site inline to the program will be resolved on all Raspi Linux builds. I feel this feature is essential for building the Scratch communi...

Scratch connectivity

I was very pleased to learn that Scratch was included in the Debian squeeze build for the Ras-Pi. Unfortunately, Scratch doesn't seem to be fully functional in this scenario. Saving to and loading from the scratch site didn't work for me initially from within the scratch interface. I'm sure this is ...
