Re: Is the current Pi 4 useable as 64bit?

Try and emerge it in Gentoo64 . I don't understand that. I have everything running on a Pi3 now and a lot of water has gone under the bridge since I made this request. I forget a lot of what I first did! I tried the Pi4 and I think I got Mongo working out of the box so to speak but not the bot so g...

Re: Is the current Pi 4 useable as 64bit?

I post this in the context of using a desktop (desktop apps) on the Pi 4 Model B specifically but maybe relevant to the other 64bit capable models. IMHO think the 64 bit is somewhat bleeding edge right now but the bugs are being ironed out. Ubuntu 19.10 ARM 64 (server) works as does some desktops bu...

Re: Automatic setup for RTL8188CUS based wifi adapters

MrEngman thanks for the script. Worked perfectly on the latest release of Raspbian. I slight problem when then WiFi adapter was plugged into a non-powered hub but I plugged into one of the Pi USB ports and no problem.

Re: Networking with Kindle over USB

@jcg, as per my post on the mobileread and responding to your points here. Once the jailbreak, launchpad, usbnet, terminal, vnc viewer are installed on the Kindle you’ll get usbnet and access to native linux terminal as root on the Kindle and a VNC viewer for the Xvnc/x2vnc configuration describe in...

Re: Keyboard repeating characters

I've tried Debian and Raspbian and get keyboard repeats.
If I use Archlinuxarm I get no problems.

Re: Trying to get an RTL8188CUS wireless USB NIC working.

I have the same problem with the Edimax EW7811Un. I had it working but then updates killed it and I'm not wasting more hours trying to fix it on Debian. Although it took a few steps on Archlinux to get working at least it keeps on working. Maybe one day someone will fix the kernel module and it will...

Re: WiFi dongle won't initiate

I have the similar problems with the Edimax EW7811Un on Debian. It was working but updates have broken it and I'm not going to spend hours trying to fix it. Other Debian instability problems mean I've moved to Archlinux although I had a similar problem to get the usb driver working fist time on that...

Re: Tight VNC Server

Apparently the package has a hard coded link (a fault) to a fonts directory that doesn't exist in many linux distributions. I installed tightvncserver this morning. The usual font warning but it didn't stop it from starting. I've an archlinux build and when I linked the directory name tightvncserver...

Re: Debian Squeeze,2gb Card, "Not enough space on disk"

Obvious things to check but:
the SD card write protected?
are you choosing the correct target drive, e.g. h: ?
have you checked the md5/shar of the downloaded image?
tried a different SD card
it's definitely 2GB?
tried SDformat of the card first?

Re: cant connect Kindle3 in USBMode on Pi

usbnet works OK for me in terms of connecting to the Kindle ... only I have bigger problems. I've installed the jailbreak, launchpad, usbnet, terminal, screen saver disabler and a few other things on the Kindle. If the Kindle flicks to low power there's no usbnet and the interface usb0 will drop fro...

Re: Trying to get an RTL8188CUS wireless USB NIC working.

Similar to the above with: Linux alarmpi 3.1.9.28-ARCH+1 #1 PREEMPT
updated all packaged a few minutes ago:

lsusb now identifies the Edimax EW-7811Un as RTL8188CUS

but

there's no wlan0 device created.

Please can you advice how to create it or is there still a device problem.

Thanks
