Re: Connecting to my Windows 7 network

This problem ended up being solved in this way. Following a friend's suggestion, I created a new user with a password. The user I was logging from, as administrator, didn't have a password. So I went to Kodi and created a new link to the PC IP, this time adding the new user and password down below. ...

Re: Connecting to my Windows 7 network

But that not what you say here: The question is how Windows, in my case 7, will communicate with a server. Then we can discuss how the rest communicates with the server when the server s Windows. It seems you are confusing what I had said on several places before that comment, that I wanted to use ...

Re: Connecting to my Windows 7 network

But I did share all the information you asked. No problem starting a new thread, but I do not think why it would be different from this. The title sums it all up: Connecting to my Windows 7 network. My very first post says what I want: to connect my Raspberry Pi3 +B to my Windows 7 PC, by Ethernet. ...

Re: Connecting to my Windows 7 network

OK, let's hope what I want is clear now. I didn't realize it was not, maybe because I think things in a different way. For instance, I still do not understand how the SMBv1 was deprecation done in May 2018 reached my Windows 7 later installs, as I did not allow it to update. How did it happen? But t...

Re: Connecting to my Windows 7 network

On the media players and on the Mecool, which is also Kodi with Android, what is shared is the whole PC,

You log into it and it opens ALL that is shared within it.

So the two commands show your network stack is working fine on the PC and you have a pile of shares set up.

Which share do you need the Pi to use?
Only CEM-PC

Re: Connecting to my Windows 7 network

This is to be a solely wired system, never wi-fi. The Pi handles the files kept on the PC. Files are now on my PC, which is also serving as server. In about two months there will be another PC, loaded with Linuux and CenterOS, that will be the main server, with about 20-30TB of files. A Raspberry an...

Re: Connecting to my Windows 7 network

Wait a minute: if I couldn't connect, why not using samba might be the reason for it? I just tried to connect again with Kodi and couldn't. Would adding that 'ntlm auth = yes' to smb.conf help? If what you mean that the reason for my problems is because NTLMv1vanished from my Wndows 7, I do think yo...

Re: Connecting to my Windows 7 network

OK, installed Samba on my Raspbian. Kodi is already installed on it too.

Found smb.conf Where do I add 'ntlm auth = yes'?

How do I do to copy all that's written in smb.conf and put it here? By opening this forum from Raspbian?

Re: Connecting to my Windows 7 network

OK, I imaged another SD card with Ubuntu Mate to see if I could see other things, particularly if I had a Raspberry hardware problem. I seem not to. Re: Connecting to my Windows 7 network

Well, I did create a user, cem-PC, when I installed Windows 7. That's what I would like to get to with the Pi ...

on the windows pc where you are sharing the folder, have you set the permissions to access it? Yes, of course. I have been using a sharing system for 10 years, with my media players. Of course it's connected to a router.

What network mask are you talking about? What's a network mask?

Which is the DHCP server and why DHCP should be used at all?

Re: Connecting to my Windows 7 network

What do you mean how?

I already said it on my first post. What else do you want to know?

Linking the ethernet cable to the modem, checking the IPv4 on my W7, loading that in Kodi under SMB protocol, and getting nothing.
