Find default sample rate on sensehat

Ive seen a few posts regarding changing the sample rate, although it seems as though many are unsuccessful in doing so(?). But how does one locate/change the current (OR EVEN DEFAULT) sample rate for (any of) the sensors in the sensehat module? Can this be checked via command line/config? I saw this...

Re: Python .now() and ntp time wildly different in concurrent scripts?

Thank you. Thats def useful. The times in the original post are from the SAME device. But two different scripts. script1 .append(datetime.now().replace(microsecond=0).isoformat(' ')) script2 start = dt.datetime.now() timestamp = start.strftime("%y%m%d_%H_%M_%S") when i removed the ntp service restar...

Python .now() and ntp time wildly different in concurrent scripts?

I'm using the following to add a time stamp to a csv file against rows of sensor data collected at roughly 1Hz: .append(datetime.now().replace(microsecond=0).isoformat(' ')) And the following at the same time (concurrently) to add a timestamp into some video footage: import datetime as dt start = dt...

Re: Raspberry dashcam wanted

Dragging up an old one is perhaps less than ideal, but it seems to be the right place to do this. The last posted link https://www.stuffaboutcode.com/2013/07/raspberry-pi-car-cam-overlaid-with-obd.html was pretty useful, but has anyone a working (maybe simplified) version of this for python 3+ ? Ask...

Re: Sensehat unreliability, anyone else?

There is this https://shop.pimoroni.com/products/mp2636-power-booster-charger-module Which is good for 2A out. I may end up switching to one at some point. Just to mention, ive had two of these module boards and neither work with the pi3b, i dont think that they can provide the power needed. Actual...

For example, is the show_message command blocking?
All good advice, Thx. You were right about this. Removing this within the loop reduces the delay and so clearly has an impact .

As for the queue/threads - I havent done this before and so will have to look further into how etc.

Re: Sensehat unreliability, anyone else?

thanks folks for the advice. It does appear as though it's a power issue, although switching the sensehat to the PiZero seemed to resolve it. Annoyingly, I have tried multiple batteries, both Lipo and phone charging blocks, even a car battery booster and so many cable variations i am finding making ...

Write delays on piZero / Data stack / Async writing advice sought

I am wondering if there is anyone who is perhaps more capable with regards either python threading, async data writing or understanding some of the limitations of an SD card (write speeds?) who might be able to comment/suggest ways forward on the script i have and/or why i might be seeing this unexp...

Re: Sensehat unreliability, anyone else?

Either a question that has been asked too often, or not one that anyone recognises or cares to comment on. :) Either way, for others in the same boat. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the undervoltage warnings i'm seeing quiet a lot off. It just got me wondering having reread the boot is...

Re: Use bluetooth to pi camera? or time syncing 2 pis

Thanks for the response b.goode. For others in thee same boat, i'm going to attempt with the hdmi connection options between camera and pi and see if that is at least a bit more workable in terms of connecting and disconnecting on a regular basis (which is what i need to do if not wireless and doing...

Sensehat unreliability, anyone else?

I have a project that uses the sensehat on pi3b. It's back and forth outdoors, but sits solidly on the pi gpio. However, it's so unreliable in terms of whether it gets recognised or not that it's jeopardising the entire project. Ironically, its also the most expensive single bit of kit in the projec...

Use bluetooth to pi camera? or time syncing 2 pis

Looking for anyones experiences of hooking up any version of the pi, to the pi camera using bluetooth. Searching here and the net appears to give nothing, Looking to loose the wire between the two, without wifi (too much bulk, impractical). Although i'm using a longer ribbon cable at the moment, it ...

Re: Pi zero - mini accelerometer / gyro module options vs sensehat

thx. There will be a fair bit of movement and vibration. I'm also experiencing some of the issues regarding not having a stable build and consistent placement etc. - which is the reason for looking at smaller implementation options. Trying to make something that will fit inside a motorbike helmet. A...

Pi zero - mini accelerometer / gyro module options vs sensehat

Does anyone have advice or experience of the now plethora of much smaller accel/mag/gyro boards that are out there in combination with pi zero? i am looking for advice about how to avoid having to attach the sense hat to the zero, as the bulk is more than i want in one place(unless someone has sugge...

Does anyone have ideas on why the sensehat gyro values might spike every 5-15 seconds when at rest, flat and on a solid surface. British Gas smart meter devices to become a free touch screen

Has anyone been able to hack one of the British Gas smart meter devices to become a free touch screen for the pi? (ecometer / p450 by Landis Gyr)? Seems like it would be ideal, just not sure where to start.
