Re: Can I use an outdoor mains PIR with a Pi?

Thanks everyone! I ended up just using a 5v PIR and enclosing it in a weatherproof junction box then sealing it in with silicone sealant in the end.

Re: PWM : hardware or software?

I've used software PWM with lightboxes which is great for timings - you can set the fade speed etc in the software and it's really flexible with the possible ways it can be used. It's definitely quicker to adapt and make changes to a light up sequence than resoldering hardware but as mentioned there...

Can I use an outdoor mains PIR with a Pi?

Hello! I'm a coder with only a little electronics knowledge and I've got a project that requires an outdoor weatherproof PIR sensor but that needs to interface with the Pis GPIO. I have 2 PIRs: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Infrared-Detector-Sensors-Waterproof-Pavement/dp/B07L4L519V/ref=pd_rhf_dp_p_img_1...

Re: Python file permissions affected by Autostart?

Solved - I just needed to put an absolute path into the script.

Out of interest, why would the path become relative when triggered from a .desktop shortcut?

Is the path relative to the executing file and not the python script's location?

Python file permissions affected by Autostart?

Hello! Wondered if anyone could clear out some python/permissions/autostart troubles I've had... I have a .desktop file in config/autostart on a Pi 3B on Rasbian Stretch which executes a python script on boot. I've had a right song and dance trying to get the autostart to run the script which uses t...

Re: HDMI audio via HDMI to RCA lead possible?

Awesome thanks guys! Much appreciated.

I ended up installing an PCM2704 USB DAC external sound card in the end which was an improvement on sound quality and worked on the model B.

HDMI audio via HDMI to RCA lead possible?

Hi all, I wondered if it was possible to send out audio via better audio than the standard analog out on a Raspberry Pi model B by sending the audio out via HDMI using an HDMI to RCA cable? I bought a HDMI to RCA cable out of curiosity to try but after a few quick tests mainly just get a load of buz...
