Faulty Touch Panel.

This posting is really to help anyone else who may have the same problem that I did. On first powering up my new Display everything appeared to be working normally. However after a few minutes the mouse pointer started to behave erratically and kept jumping to a position in the top right hand quadra...

Re: HDMI to VGA convert adapter. Will this work?

The two devices above are the same thing, just different colour cases. They both use the same chip. I have been using one of the black ones for over six months with no problems. However as mentioned elsewhere they both take more current from the HDMI port than it is designed to give so there is a sm...

Re: 16x2 no contrast help

Some breadboards have split power supply busses. If you look at the red and blue lines you will see there is a gap between the left and right hand sides. You probably need to fit a link wire between the two red busses and one between the two blue busses. You can check if this is necessary with a met...

Hi Grant...

Please read my previous post in this thread. As you have found, the Repository version of Gambas3 does not work. My post gives details of a work-around to get it going.

Hi, the standard installs don't work. However Gambas3 can be installed using this workaround. I haven't tried Gambas2.

Re: Current Farnell Delivery Time

As no one else seems to have done so, I will answer your original question. It's amazing how quickly this forum goes off topic.

I ordered in the UK from Farnell on the 6th Oct. It was dispatched on the 12th and received it on the 15th.(would have been quicker but the weekend got in the way)

Re: GAMBAS(basic)

Hi NickE I have just downloaded and tested the Gambas 3.2.1 patch on a fresh install of Raspbian 18-09-12 and it worked fine. However, to simplify the procedure a little I have uploaded the same files with a small script file to to the overwriting. The following procedure should give you a working G...

Hi NickE I have had it working on the 18-09 raspbian image with no problem. But I did overwrite using my original files and did not try downloading them again. I am not near my Pi again until the weekend I will try it with the downloaded files then. If I get the time I will try to write a script to ...

Hi kru64.. I have uploaded the Gambas 3.2.1 update files to wikisend http://wikisend.com/download/751020/Gambas%203-2-1%20files.zip As mentioned before, first install the raspbian version of Gambas3 from the repositiory (which won't run) then overwrite the installed files with those in this download...

Re: Raspberry Pi OS

When I tried to boot it also occasionally failed to start (1 in 5 attempts failed) . I didn't bother to follow it up any further but it is possible that the SD card handling has been improved in the later boot files from raspbian.

I was using HDMI display.

Tried it with a 'Tesco Value' keyboard and worked fine, although I have to type slowly to avoid missed key presses. Tried it with an 'ASDA ' Keyboard and it would not respond at all. Both keyboards show up as the same manufacturer when checked in Linux. It looks like even small differences in model ...

Re: Flashing the LED 5 times.

I'm not an arm programmer but it looks to me like you are never exiting the loop. It will call blinkled 5 times then continue to increment r4 until it overflows back to zero. Then it will call blinkled another 5 times. This will all happen so quickly that it might appear that blinkled is being const...

Re: Single-supply op amp

As mentioned previously the 741 opamp is not really usable with a single rail supply at such a low voltage. It was designed to work with dual rail supplies of +- 15V. The range of input and output voltages does not extend to the supply rails. For example with a +- 15V supply the Inputs and outputs c...

Re: GAMBAS(basic)

Hello Mike, I agree it would be nice to have a working version in the repository. I don't have much experience with Linux so I have been on a steep learning curve. I have done a lot of VB programming in Windows so I find Gambas to be a easy and quick way of getting a GUI program working in Linux. I ...

I bought 10 plugs from china on eBay. They are easy to wire up and have a two part plastic clip on cover.
Can't remember the sellers name but just do a search for micro USB plug.

Re: GAMBAS(basic)

The wiringPi library had a mode that uses the sys/class/gpio file system access to the gpio. This is a lot slower but apparently works without root access. I haven't tried it but it uses the *sys version of the library routines, so for Gambas the definitions would need to be changed to point to thes...

glenn66.... Yes, I find that Gambas3 works fairly well on the Pi. Having done a lot of VB6 programming on Windows I find it is very easy to use. It's certainly one of the simplest ways (for me) of quickly writing a GUI application on the Pi. Some things are a bit slow such as reading and writing fil...

Re: GAMBAS(basic)

Hi Wally.. Looks like you have found the answer, you don't need the 'In' part of the definition if the library has already been identified with the LIBRARY command. I have not tried the serialPrintf() function but I have tested the lcdprintf() with a 2x40 character LCD attached and this works fine. ...

Re: GAMBAS(basic)

Hello Wally, Yes, to access the GPIO on the Pi from any program it has to be run as root. I just logged in as root instead of pi. Gambas will then run with root privileges. I dont think the root login is enabled by default in the raspbian distro. You need to do a 'sudo passwd'. To set a root passwor...

Why have I never spotted that option before??? That makes it a lot easier. The way Gambas uses hidden files is one of the things I find very confusing.

Hopefully this time it will work...
