Push Button Playlist

Hi Guys, Just wondering if anyone knows of a way in which I can get a push button to play a playlist? I'm wanting to build a music player for my daughter where she can just press a button and it will play a playlist, I'm wanting 4 buttons in total which will move to the next playlist when other butt...

Re: Power Supply

Would this only work with the Western Digital drive? As I was wanting a 2TB drive.

Power Supply

Hi Guys, I'm wanting in internal power supply to place in my media player that will power the pi and a 2.5" 2tb drive. Ideal I will solder the cable to the 5+ and ground to supply power to the pi. Has anyone done this? If so what parts did you use? (I've looked through the forum but can't find anyth...

Re: Hat Question

That's wicked, thanks.

I think I like the idea of having all the components separately and wiring them to the GPIO, and with knowing what pins are used with each hat, I'm guessing this can be achieved.

Re: Hat Question

So you can still use the GPIO pins in situe with something else plugged into the header? Cool! i thought once you had something on the GPIO you wouldn't be able to use those pins again. So, I could add all the other things to the GPIO pins and not really have an issue.

Hat Question

Hi Guys, I wasn't sure which catogory to put this question in as its a bit of everything! I'm wanting to build a media box out of a large-ish aluminium case (http://i1139.photobucket.com/albums/n544/pheginbotham/raspberry%20pi/_10_zps5434017d.jpg) which will hold a pi3, JustBoom Amp HAT, buttons for...

Re: Power Supply/Case/Hard Drive

I think you're only limited by the capacity the caddy chipset will recognise, but don't quote me on that. a 2TB drive certainly isn't a problem as I've seen others using them in this way. A Pi PSU rated at 2A and upwards will handle the largest load the USB ports can supply if it's a B+ or Pi2B. Ma...

Re: Power Supply/Case/Hard Drive

My Model B running Kodi is housed in an old PC midi case. I used the old ATX internal power supply as well and has been running for over a year. It is important to measure the no load voltage on the +5 and +12v lines but no load or with load it deviates by only a few millivolts. I used the case to ...

Re: Power Supply/Case/Hard Drive

Look at a PlusBerry Pi case . Comes with a built-in powered hub, 2.5" mSata drive interface (and space for a drive), IR receiver (GPIO connected, normal GPIO #18 set-up) and a 3A power supply to run everything including the Pi. I run one at home and it works a treat, and you end up with 8 USB ports...

I'd have only drank all his tea. I'm half Yorkshire myself. :D
Haha

Thanks for all your help. I'll keep you all posted on the build.

Re: Power Supply/Case/Hard Drive

Like I mentioned earlier I won't be able to cut out the rear of the case if I go down that route as the cables would have to come back out of the rear of the case to go into the USB port. My homebrew Pi Mini-PC has the USB cable for the hard drive as an external loop-through. It's a very handy feat...

Re: Power Supply/Case/Hard Drive

There's no point in going to all of the added complication of using a PC power supply. You can run the 2.5" drive in a caddy directly from the Pi's USB port if it's a Pi B+ or later. Just add... max_usb_current=1 ...to config.txt and it should power the drive just fine if the Pi PSU is chunky enoug...

Permissions Problem

Hi Guys This is my first post on here, so please go easy on me! Oh and I'm relatively new with Linux based operating systems. So, I've been using my raspberry Pi 2 for about 2 weeks now and I absolutely love it, but I have one little problem! Well it's quite a big problem for me! I set my raspberry ...
