Just tought of that. I have another SDcard with the default split, and that actually works.
The problem was wrong split setting. :oops:

Finally got the raspbian image to work. ( Found out it could not be installed on a micro SD using a adaptor for the SD slot. It actually worked with squeeze.) This has increased the responsiveness of my Pi considerably. Now it is actually usable. Will have to get some electronic components next, and...

Hi.

I installed gkrellm to get a clearer view of the usage. You might be onto something about the SD card. It seems like the card is acting very slow. It is a Kingston 16GB class 4 card. Brand new. I have to do a bit more investigation.
