Re: Looking for good C/C++ resources for PI

Hi If you are looking for an IDE and you are a Windows PC user then I would recommend Visual Studio 2017 as it now has the ability to cross compile directly on the Pi, see here . I do all of my C/C++ development this way as it gives you access to all the modern tools and techniques which developers ...

Re: Cross Compile and remote debug

Hi I use Visual Studio 2017 with the C++ for Linux Workload, described here . This allows you to do all of your development on Windows, in the Visual Studio IDE, and then compile and debug directly on the Pi, again in the IDE. I have not looked back since! It is very straightforward to setup and you...

Re: Pin13 does not work with bcm2835 on rpi3

I think you may be using the incorrect constants for a V3 Pi. if you look in the header file you will see the following declarations, the top two are for the earlier model and the bottom two are for the later models, I believe that you need to be using the B+ version, as you will see the constant fo...

Re: now can I get picam(c++) retrieve 'data' into 'int[]'

Hello

Can you please post the function prototype for Camera.retrieve? You probably need to pass the address of data (&data) to the function so the array is passed by value and not reference (if Camera.retrieve populates the array)

[Solved :-)] Problems with using syslog

Ok, so I am having problems with syslog on Raspbian Stretch. I am trying to write to my own application log file, /var/log/blah.log using LOG_LOCAL0 as my facility parameter. I am using gnu C++ 11, the code is written in Visual Studio and then compiled on the Pi My /etc/syslog.conf has the following...

I am not familiar with this module, however if you have details of what you are trying to achieve with it that may help find a solution

Hi I am developing an automation system that requires the use of a PiFace2 Digital board and a DS18B20 temperature sensor, as the PiFace 2 does not allow access to the IO pins I am also using a PiFace IO Shim . I have C code that interacts with both the sensor and PIFace2 and works correctly when ea...

Re: GPIO and C Begginners

Hi

Having been in the same place as you a few months ago I looked at WiringPi http://wiringpi.com/ and the BCM2835 library http://www.airspayce.com/mikem/bcm2835/. I found both of the libraries easy to use, the WiringPi site has some helpful examples too.

Hope that helps

Re: How can I practice my code for RPI?

Hi This probably goes against the grain, but I use Visual Studio 2017 and write all my C code using the C/C++ cross platform project option. I find it works well and building and debugging use gcc and gdb on the target. If you use any non standard include files you will need to copy them to your dev...
