Re: Raspberry Jam at Bletchley Park?

That sounds fun!
I work at the Open University just up the road from Bletchley, and am organising something to tell colleagues there about the Raspberry and what it could do for our students. Linking this with a jam would be good...

What's yours called?

Ok, here's a light-hearted thread... What have you called your Raspberry Pi (ie, what's its hostname?) I've taken to naming computers in our house after (alcoholic!) drinks ( :geek: my wife says!), so was casting around for an appropriate name. I came across "Chambord" - a French raspberry based liq...

Re: Cannot access the rubbish folder in new wheezy

A work-around I've found (at least, for a usb flash drive - I haven't dared try o9n the main SD card): In a terminal at the root of the drive, look for a directory with a name like .Trash-0 (use ls -a to find it) cd to this directory, then ls -a again and rm -rf (directory name) for each directory y...

Re: hosting a website on a raspberry pi ?

Hosting a website is certainly possible - I'm pretty new to the Linux/server game, so feeling my way somewhat with plenty of help from forum posts here and elsewhere. I'm running the Wheezy beta distro, with Apache, mySQL and php5 with my website running on the e107 content management system - this ...

Re: Running wordpress on my pi LAMP server...

Nice site Spud! My experiences with configuring/extending Drupal caused me to over-stress my RPi, and ended up with a corrupted boot partition  System now rebuilt the same as before, but now using e107 for the CMS - take a look at: http://whistem.no-ip.org/home The site runs reasonably fast, d...

Re: Running wordpress on my pi LAMP server...

I've had a play with several CMS's on another linux machine to evaluate how they might perform on a RPi. These were: Wordpress, Drupal 7 and Joomla! Here's my opinions... 1, Wordpress - great, easy to set up out of the box, but rather too system intensive for the RPi 2, Drupal - also very good, but ...

Re: SD size to setup a web server

I'm using a 4GB SD card (pretty generic type) with the Wheezy beta distro. After installing LAMP bits, some mucking about and installing stuff, I have about 1.5 GB to play with. This isn't a problem, as I'm using a partitioned usb flash drive to (1) store files and (2) host a website running Drupal....

Re: android / iphone mobile remote

I run my RPi exculsively headless. This avoids arguments about having the dining table bavk for dinner and other trivial thing :D Seriously, I have an android phone and can happily control my RPi via both SSH and VNC connections (though the latter is a little tricky on a small phone screen) Two andr...

Re: Drupal 7 on Raspberry Pi

I have Drupal 7 running with mySQL. I'm using the wheezy beta distro on a 4GB SD card, and linking the main drupal directory from the /var/www directory using a symbolic link to a partition on a usb flash drive. (I'm running my RPi headless via tightVNC - there are posts about this on here). This is...

Love it! My son is an avid Lego Star Wars fan, and won't let me adapt any of his models. Still, here's my offering, somewhat on the "Dark Side" with my Systems Administrator, Professor L. E. Re: Help test the next Debian image (wheezy)

Ok, got my Raspberry Pi last week, and got it going nicely with the "official" squeeze version. All smooth, but some issues with powered hub and wifi (another story) Found the wheezy beta, so have given that a go, and so far, so good! Booted up no problem (although didn't want to go into raspi-confi...
