Re: Help installing and compiling VLC for my RPi3 under Raspbian

OK, I have followed the commands in the tutorial page as linked above. Oddly, my first microSD card always got errors when I tried to update and upgrade the Raspbian... Different card, and now, no errors, so Hooray Me! The make seems to have gone well. I had to scroll down to find the internal setti...

Re: Help installing and compiling VLC for my RPi3 under Raspbian

Thanks for getting back to me on this! It is appreciated greatly! That thread looks familiar, but I'll try the use of those commands in a copy and paste method, and see how well it works for me this time and let you know. Ultimately, the good news is: I don't need it for the OSMC part of things, as ...

Help installing and compiling VLC for my RPi3 under Raspbian

I realize there are other threads covering this specific request/problem, and want to apologize for making this new thread as my frustration in trying (unsuccessfully) to wade into the thread archives for useful information, only to get lost and even more frustrated... What I am looking for is as fo...

Looking for a Guru's Help Setting Up Lubuntu on RPi3+

Since this is the Advanced Users thread, I figured that maybe there might be a 'Nix Guru hiding here somewhere. That said, I would LOVE to get Step By Step instructions for setting up my new RPi3+ (the latest edition) with Lubuntu 18.04 LTS from a MicroSD image, or to a MicroSD card from a USB. I re...

Re: Looking for a Lubuntu 18.04 LTS image for the new RPi3B+

Thanks for the reply, "fruitoftheloom"! (There sure seems to be a lot of interesting nicknames here.) Debian is a 32 bit kernel (if I am informed correctly), while the Lubuntu is 64 bit. Previous builds I have been tinkering with were 32 bit as well, and there have been little attention made toward ...

Looking for a Lubuntu 18.04 LTS image for the new RPi3B+

Greeting, good folks! I am looking for help getting a usable image of Lubuntu 18.04 LTS that will work with my brand spanking new RPi3B+ that just arrived today. Since I am still fairly new to the whole 'buntu and RPi community, and have noticed that the new 3B+ seems to be having a bit of difficult...

OS Question/Poll

Hello everyone!
Just a quick poll for those of us interested in such thins. Namely:

What OS did you install/work with on your Raspberry Pi?
Feel free to comment on why you chose the OS you did.

Re: Mpeg license not received even after 5 days

I recently had a similar experience when I ordered my second set of licenses for another Pi. Turns out my Spam filter took the message and dumped in my Junk Mail folder on me! So, in a nutshell, try having a peek in your junk/spam folder for it. You just might find it there. This is a recent experie...

Re: Adding a Power Switch+LED to a RPi3 with an I2C Clock

OK, I got myself an imgur account, and have uploaded the assortment of progress pics. I want to apologize for the crappy quality up front, as I only have an ancient Alcatel M'pop phone to use for these things... Here we go: Test Circuit: http://i.imgur.com/feI8eib.jpg Test Circuit Running: http://i....

Re: Adding a Power Switch+LED to a RPi3 with an I2C Clock

OK, here's my progress report: I tried the reference and script I found here: https://www.element14.com/community/docs/DOC-78055/l/adding-a-shutdown-button-to-the-raspberry-pi-b The author has you make a Scripts directory, then write the little Python script. After that, he has you add it to the lis...

Re: Adding a Power Switch+LED to a RPi3 with an I2C Clock

Thanks for the prompt reply (and the code reference)! I'll have to give this a try, and let you know what the results are :) Also: Quick Question: Is the referenced article(s) good, or are there better references for adding a Power Switch, and I just haven't seem them yet? Thanks a bunch! (Wish me l...

Adding a Power Switch+LED to a RPi3 with an I2C Clock

Greetings, friendly folks! I am new here, and have what seems to me to be a rather advanced question (particularly for a newbie like me). Here goes: I have a Raspberry Pi 3 equipped with a RealTime Clock (DS3231 for PI) My Pi is running the Lubuntu 16.04 LTS version of Linux. The RTC board has been ...
