Re: Small piwiz race condition (time sync)

Probably worth filing an issue against this then, if it also affects vanilla Raspbian Buster. Does anyone know the correct GitHub project? I've only been able to find https://github.com/nethunteros/piwiz but nothing in e.g. raspberrypi or raspberrypi-ui: guess I'm just looking in the wrong place? Be...

Small piwiz race condition (time sync)

Hello, during recent testing of my raspbian-nspawn-64 image, I ran into a small race condition that I believe will probably also affect vanilla Raspbian installs. Specifically, if the user boots the current (10 July 2019) Raspbian image, with no Ethernet connected, gets to the WiFi setup screen, spe...

Re: Pi4 64-bit raspbian kernel for testing - Focus on Pi4

Hello, Slightly OT since the focus is on the Pi4, but: I have used this official 64-bit kernel (@ 4.19.69-v8+, with matching boot f/w, as pulled in by rpi-update) in my recently released raspbian-nspawn-64 image, so I've given it some testing on both an RPi4 and RPi3. Mostly, it seems to work well o...

Or I can wait for all the PY3/QT5 etc issues to get sorted by the developers of those apps  I feel no need to go backwards and someine smarter will figure it out eventually. That was certainly the reasoning behind last-riting it (although there's still a fair amount of Qt4 stuff floating aroun...

FYI - GDC can be built as part of GCC if d enabled
https://wiki.dlang.org/GDC
Only C, C++, Fortran are in your current 9.2.0 GCC release.
Yes, you can also compile sys-devel/gcc with e.g. the objc and objc++ USE flags, but I try to keep the shipped version of gcc relatively vanilla.

Hi Sakaki, is there a D language compiler for Gentoo64, I saw nothing in your repo? https://dlang.org/ Will doing this work or will Layman break my Gentoo64? https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Dlang Haven't tried building this yet. Installing layman shouldn't break anything, but probably better to use th...

Re: QT issues

Gavinmc42, Unfortunately, Qt4 was last-rited and removed in Gentoo last year (https://bugs.gentoo.org/631788). However, the Qt ensemble is still slotted, so if you can install an overlay (user ebuild repository) that has the old Qt4 ebuilds in there, you ought to be able to install it in parallel wi...

Re: STICKY: PINN - An enhanced version of NOOBS.

@Sakaki - Many thanks for pinnify. It looks very promising and I hope to incorporate it into some of my own scripts. Some minor points: 1) The readme is a bit ambiguous concerning "..normal practice or a bootfs" which refers to being a fixed size, but someone could infer it applied to the "maximize...

Re: Easily run 64-bit Debian Stretch packages on a Raspbian system: new RPi3 demo image released (systemd-nspawn, LXDE)

Hello, I've just released v1.3.0 of this bootable image on GitHub, here . This now supports the RPi4 model B (the RPi3 B/B+ remain supported too), employs a Raspbian Buster host O/S (upgraded from Stretch; the guest O/S remains arm64 Debian Buster), and uses an official 64-bit kernel (in place of th...

Re: Lazarus/Free Pascal

Yes, this is a standard Gentoo question about version-bumping an existing ebuild, rather than something RPi-specific, so probably best to post on the Gentoo forums about this.

What do I need to do to get WireGuard to build? So, building out-of-tree kernel modules like this against a binary kernel is a little tricky at the moment (I need to tweak the weekly autobuilder to create a matching kernel-headers-... package for each of the provided kernels, basically, which I hav...

Hi nersos, so, it is possible to rebuild any package in Gentoo yourself with custom settings (in fact, ultimately that's kind of the point of using it ^-^), but to be fair, it's perhaps not the easiest distro to start out on if you want to go off-piste (you mentioned in your first post you were new ...

nersos, perhaps someone more familiar with this particular service can chime in here. It's failing to play for me even on Raspbian (Chromium 74). For your target application (a media centre), you may be better served using one of the dedicated media-system builds for the RPi4, such as LibreELEC . Go...

Nice CLI headless version, but I'm am going to be nit picky. It seems to need a 16GB uSD card? I think 8GB is the biggest uSD that can be got in SLC. I would prefer a nice reliable SLC based SD for any headless server usage. No big problem, gparted can fix this but it takes more steps. Of course if...
