Re: Pine64+ a good deal?

KS campaign closed on 23 January, if the message posts are accurate. It certainly didn't close any later than that. The Pi3B launched 29 February. Therefore, you backed the PINE64 KS at least five weeks prior to the Pi3B launch. Calling that "a fortnight" is rather more than just a stretch. Good jo...

Re: Pine64+ a good deal?

My Pine64+ 2Gb turned up in the post today. I think the Pi3 was released a fortnight after I pledged, so I was a bit miffed, but nevermind.

No idea what I'm going to do with it! I'm no programmer or coder, so rely on the fruits of other folks' labour. Something will crop up.

Re: CEC and Maplin HDMI cable

My cable was a cheapo one from 7dayshop.com ages ago. My LG LED TV doesn't seem to support CEC, but my Panasonic Viera Plasma I bought last year does. I didn't even know what CEC was until then. It's genius.

Re: Raspbmc With No Peripherals

I've just bought a Panasonic 50" GT60 series plasma and hoped that I'd be able to plug my 3Tb Western Digital HDD in the USB3.0 port and run movies through the built in media player. Wrong. So I dusted off the Pi, loaded up the current version of Raspbmc on Saturday and it works a treat. The USB3.0 ...

Re: A new device that is intriguing

Having just started playing board games with our four year old son, I really can't see the point of this. Even on holiday sat on a sun lounger, we made games up on A4 paper (Angry Birds, Star Wars, TMNT, a pirate game etc) with felt tips and a dice that came free with a CBeebies magazine we picked u...

Re: [car/child] Controlling the RPi with joystick (no keyboa

This is something I was wondering too. I note XBMC works without a keyboard but it's so long since I tried it, I can't remember if it has a games section. If so (or if one can be created), maybe PiSNES or whatever could run from there.

Then again, I could be spouting rubbish!

Re: PiSNES released - Super Nintendo emulator

Yes, I dropped the .smc files into the ROMS folder. The roms are listed on the GUI menu and can be selected.

Oddly, the overclocking was done following the install of PiMame earlier on yesterday, but I shall make the attempt to turn it off before trying anything else.

Re: PiSNES released - Super Nintendo emulator

Hi, Back to basics for me I'm afraid. I've downloaded the latest version of Raspbian and then downloaded PiSnes through the Pi Store. I'm stuck on "page one" as it were. My set up is a Pi A 256mb running through HDMI set to High on the overclock menu. First problem, for me at least, is that I can on...

Nah, you see the boxed ones on a buy it now for daft money, and working ones only go for a couple of quid.

Re: Scramble Pi???

That's great, as well as proof that nothing is new around here! The resolution on the screen is better that I expected, would I be rit that the screen is horizontal inside the case? What size did you use, because fleabay had 3.5" screens with 480 lines, but the 4.3" seem to only have 240. I understa...

Scramble Pi???

Just been doing a de-clutter in some filing cabinets in the store room at the back of my office. In one of the drawers I found stuff I'd packed away probably five or six years ago. In amongst the boxed "Spy Who Loved Me" Lotus , samples of diesel for HMRC, old mobile phone stuff was this... http://w...

Re: Raspbmc & WD TV Live Hub

Sounds good, once I've mastered converting DVD VOBs to something less space hungry without loss of quality, I shall give it a go now that I've aquired a 16 port network thingy from work.

Any recomendations for conversion software?

Raspbmc & WD TV Live Hub

I've done a search on here and Raspbmc's forum but can't see any answers leaping out at me, so.... My R-Pi is currently set up to run Raspbmc which is OK for what I needed, but I've just bought a Western Digital 1TB Live Hub. I see that it's networkable and able to share files at home to PCs and sui...

Re: Setting up XBMC

I've recently loaded the final version of Raspbmc onto my Pi and just use a UBS mouse and 64GB pen drive loaded with some MP4 files that were converted from VOBs in Nero 8.

It all works a treat so far athough the resolution is pretty poor due to the small file sizes I've chosen to convert to.

Re: glint-nes Jan. 2013 release - download and demo video

@iain1970 Does the D-pad work inside the menu at least? For example, without doing any configuration can you go up/down? I only downloaded one ROM, so can't answer that one. I shall try again this weekend with a couple or more and see what happens! Basically you need to find out if your gamepad wor...

Re: glint-nes Jan. 2013 release - download and demo video

I loaded the software up last night and loaded one ROM via USB no problem. I use a 256MB Pi and also have the screen cut off at the top (HDMI into a full HD telly). Not a problem really, but odd. However, my generic USB game pad from PC World doesn't work at all. It has the d-pad, four SNES type fir...

Re: Case Design Challenge: Media Centre

I have an old parallel port CD-ROM in the loft. It might be what I'm looking for in a case for under the telly. A bigger case is definitely the way forward. I was thinking a large HDD for storage, Blu-Ray drive and a powered USB hub would be great as an all-in-one solution. I should get my thinking ...
