Got it now. You have to click the shutdown icon, select exit from the menu when it subsequently appears then quickly press ESC. This brings you to a prompt where you enter the username pi & password raspberry.

Part of my problem with this is that I don't know how to break out of the user interface to get to a terminal. Once I can do that I'm in with a fighting chance.
Hi, I've got my RPi running XBMC and want to use this Pluscom 7 port powered USB hub with it. The hub powers the RPi fine but XBMC doesn't recognize any usb devices that are plugged into the hub but does recognize them if plugged into the RPi usb ports with the hub disconnected.
