So I finally got mine working and it receives files perfectly fine. my question is this though: is there a way I can see the current status of a transfer? is there anything that tells me if something is done? I want to write a script that will take a picture and send it to another program for proces...

Well apparently it works now, I uncommented the last 2 lines in the ntp.config file on the client side as well and after about 15 minutes or so it updated the time!

from all the stuff I was reading I thought there would be some other indication that it was using my ntp server but I guess not

Ok, so heres an update: what I've done is reset my client image back to the 'original' image (starting at ground zero again).... then I went into the ntp.conf file and added the ntp server (192.168.0.2) to the list and commented out all other servers and thats it... no other changes bellow is my 'st...

Did you modify /etc/ntp.conf on the clients and add the server IP there? You do need to talk to an NTP server or two (or three). #server ntp.your-provider.example server 192.168.1.254 iburst I commented out my remote servers just to check.
