Re: Analogue audio testing

Yes, thanks. I use the analogue output in my car so I am very interested. However, I won't be able to test it for a week or so. Sorry.

Re: initial_turbo not working

It's worth mentioning that this is a B+ which, apparently, can be overclocked easier/higher than the B. So while the last 2+ years of overclocking is valid, the current information on overclocking B+s is likely incomplete.

Re: initial_turbo not working

Well, an acceptable overclock is what your Pi and power supply are capable of doing. The table you linked to is just a list of tested values that work for many people. I can use those values and my pi overclocks fine...but the moment I use initial_turbo=xx in config.txt, then it won't boot. I've don...

initial_turbo not working

Hi, I've got a B+ and have successfully overclocked it with: arm_freq=1200 core_freq=600 sdram_freq=600 over_voltage=8 force_turbo=1 I'd like the benefits of a high arm_freq, but I'd also like it to throttle the cpu down when not needed so I'm trying: arm_freq=1200 core_freq=600 sdram_freq=600 over_...

Re: Microchip AR1100 USB Touchscreen Controller

I have one. I've had very limited success in getting the USB connection to work (using tslib) Microchip's drivers are for UART so I'm going to try building a kernel module for RS-232 next (when I get some free time).

Re: python uart

Using the code below, I can send and receive from the Pi in Raspbian and xbian. I can't get it to receive using raspbmc: import time import serial ser = serial.Serial(port='/dev/ttyAMA0', baudrate=38400, timeout=1) ser.write("\x02**INP\x03") time.sleep(0.05) result=ser.read(ser.inWaiting()) if "INPS...

Re: Is 12V for RS-232 possible?

Thanks, Jason! It's now working! In my previous testing I had swapped the Tx/Rx on the GPIO pins, but I never swapped the Tx/Rx on the RS-232 cable. So I dug out a null modem cable from my toy box...used that to connect to my TV instead of a regular serial cable and voila! Success. I feel a bit sill...

Is 12V for RS-232 possible?

Hi, I've built an RS-232 cable (MAX3232 chip) for the RPi that uses the GPIO pins and it "partially works". I say it "partially works" because I can access the RPi via /dev/ttyAMA0 and I can send data over the port successfully, but I can't get it to power on/off or change inputs on my TV via RS-232...

Re: Can't get serial (MAX3232 chip) port to work

Thanks for the reply, Lars. I dug up an old PC with a serial port and connected the RPi to it using my cable. I started up Putty and was able to establish a serial connection to the RPi and log in. So the hardware is all working as desired. A bit of googling also showed me how to set up permissions ...

Can't get serial (MAX3232 chip) port to work

Hi, I've constructed an RS-232 cable using http://www.trainelectronics.com/RaspberryPi/ and am having trouble getting to work. I'm trying to control my TV by sending sending simple codes over the serial port. [email protected]:~$ echo -en "\x02*pof\x03" > /dev/ttyAMA0 -bash: /dev/ttyAMA0: Permission denied...

GPU decoded wma with VC-1 license?

Hi,
I have several audio wma's that don't play properly with raspbmc under the CPU. Does anyone know if the VC-1 license will enable GPU decoding of wmas or should I dig out those CDs and re-rip?

Thanks,
Doug

USB Touch Controller not loading correctly

Hi, I'm a linux newbie and pretty much stumbling my way through trying to get a USB touch screen controller working with my RPi. Using the 2012-10-28 version of raspian wheezy, I've managed to compile and load a kernel module, mchpar1xxx. [email protected] ~ $ lsmod Module Size Used by mchpar1xxx 1855 ...

Re: Surprises with recent openelec builds from Chris Swan's

A couple of months ago there were some posts from RPF members indicating they were examining licensing DTS and AC-3. I hope this means the licenses are coming soon. This will make the RPi an excellent media centre. I'll rip out at least one old desktop I converted into an HTPC and replace it with an...

Re: Car Computer?

Hi, I'm currently using my RPi for a raspbmc "vanputer". I installed some relays to allow me to switch my touch screen between the stock GPS system and my RPi. I bought a microchip USB touch screen controller. The touch screen "works" but is misaligned and each axis is inverted. I tried compiling dr...

Re: Use RPi to change HDMI-Input to non-CEC device

Hi, Hopefully, I'll also be using CEC to change my inputs based on python scripts too. I'm waiting for raspmc to issue RC5 before I start. So it will be a couple of days or so. Hopefully by the weekend. I'm also a beginner with python, but if I figure it out, I'll post back. In the meantime, I was d...

Newark (Farnell) Rocks!

Hi,
After getting the email from RS indicated my pi was severely backordered, I ordered from canada.newark.com. I placed the order on Tuesday, August 28 and just got it this evening (Thursday, September 6).
I'm off to try it out.

Re: RS news on shipping time

Mine was pushed back until the end of November. Based on past performance, I bet RS doesn't meet that one either. So I just ordered from Farnell (Newark/element14?) and the expected ship date is September 9. I wonder which will arrive first? My guess is I'll be cancelling the RS order on September 10.

Re: media center remote control

I use the "USB IR Toy" on my Win 7 HTPC setup and it works great. But I've ordered a "FLIRC" to use with raspbmc. They'll both work with any remote you may have kicking around. The IR Toy took a bit of effort to learn the IR signals and set up what action they trigger. From what I've read, FLIRC is ...

Re: Serial connectivity

I'm going to use raspmc on my Pi and need a serial port to send serial commands to my TV. So I just ordered this one for only $3 including shipping and jumpers. It could take about a month to get to me as it's coming from China, but that is about 2 months faster than it will take to get my Pi! :-(
