Re: Official V4L2 driver

Hi amazing people Is it possible to capture full FOV 3280x2464 video through the V4L2 pi 4 driver ? (what would be the framerate with a pi 4 doing nothing else and optimised for capture) I was reading documentation and I found a weird mode options.... what is the difference between the mode 2 and 3 ...

this kind of scares me... if you have the permission to monitor a reef then you should be aware of the ways to monitor it as they will indicate exactly what is allowed RF frequency and sound(sonar) wise whats your location in the world ? (roughly) its needed to propose a solution thanks John Jones

Re: Looking for a case for rb pi 3 + pir motion sensor

the RF interference is often because they use a cheap radar detection chipset rather than pure PIR (its more reliable at detecting motion) however they are sold as PIR... The other thing that effects PIR is heat so putting it next to a heat exchanger (such as the one mounted on top of the Pi CPU) is...

regarding the link above as it has been proved they had some issues https://medium.com/@leung.benson/how-to-design-a-proper-usb-c-power-sink-hint-not-the-way-raspberry-pi-4-did-it-f470d7a5910 to my point If you reduce the number of ports i.e. no micro HDMI ports (thats at least 2 Physical interfaces...

Re: USB Type C of Pi 4 model B

it would have been really nice if they had just used a USB C port for the video output (since you have to buy a dongle anyway) and the USB ports ! maybe the C revision will have USB C interfaces replacing HDMI mini and the USB 3.1 PHY's leaving a USB-A and RJ45 and all others USB C would simplify th...

Re: Why doesn't the next Pi add...? Why doesn't the Pi 4 have...? The definitive debunking!

I can understand all the decisions apart from the USB C port not being used for video / power / USB rather than just power there are plenty of dongles for USB C to full size HDMI (this is how ChromeOS laptops with USB C achieve it) you dont have to enable all the ports to have full functionality, in...

Re: Bluetooth 5 on Pi4 how about 5ish for the rest of us ?

Great when will the updated firmware be released ?
How do I obtain the firmware ?
Can earlier models act as a mesh ?

A little more details on the Bluetooth Chipsets and Software would be helpful !

Also listing the actual chipsets in your "spec" pages might be useful.

thank you !

Bluetooth 5 on Pi4 how about 5ish for the rest of us ?

Hi From what I understand (reading reviews) the raspberry Pi 4 model b has the same wireless chipset as the Raspberry Pi 3 B+ "Wireless support is provided in an RF shielded module by the same Cypress CYW43455 chip as we saw on the Raspberry Pi 3, Model B+. Offering dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz IEEE 80...

Re: Fast boot (sub second) of pi zero w - howto ?

Thanks Gavinmc42 Your comments are helpful and Positive ! Your probably right about the 3 seconds as the camera ISP might be limitation I guess thats why ARM ltd are doing their own. 30mA seems a lot to me for a battery powered system that has to last weeks A nice addition to the firmware would be t...

Re: Fast boot (sub second) of pi zero w - howto ?

I presumed they actually engineered it for IP television and the mobile phone / ipod was simply a way to earn money, either way it seems odd that the system has to spend so long initialising...

Again has anyone had any positive experience ?

Re: Fast boot (sub second) of pi zero w - howto ?

Thats not very positive or useful so I was wondering if anyone had any positive experience in booting under a second and capturing an image here

Again I find it hard to believe the designers of a videocore device did not think of bringup in under a second

Re: Raspberry Pi encoding is really slow.

This thread is super interesting to me as I'm going to be doing something similar... What would be the optimal settings to dump video from the camera subsystem into storage, OpenCV and also RTSP (I'm not worried about being live video it can be up to 10 seconds late however the quality matters) I wa...

Fast boot (sub second) of pi zero w - howto ?

Hi I am working on a project for a charity and would like to use a pi zero w, However the project needs the device to capture a image in 1-2 seconds from power on. Please would you post details if you have achieved an linux environment with the pi zero w ( BCM2835 ). I realise that the default firmw...

Re: buildroot + U-boot trials

Very interesting, I'm trying to do something similar to speed up the boot time.

Have you tried adding debug options to uboot ( like outputting a char to the serial console to indicate progress ) ?
do you have access to a JTAG programmer ?

what sort of boot time are you experiencing ?

thanks

vintozver there are so many assumptions that are weird First I'm going to assume that you are trying to reply to a tender and part of that tender specifies that you must have IPv6 when you look at : https://github.com/hermanhermitage/videocoreiv you see that its a completely different instruction se...
