Both libraries are under active development. Any opinion on this will be temporary. Toss a coin and pick one. You'll probably lose. I got opencv on coin toss

Re: Dual cameras and raspistill

Not done it myself but you could maybe try the -a parameter for raspistill and show some custom text or some other attribute that could identify the camera? https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/raspbian/applications/camera.md or you could use the camera directly from python rather than forking ...

Why should I?

Quick check of the code and you don't know a loop or an if statement so why bother?

Re: Upload images to Webserver with a TimeStamp

You do really need to post more detail. However I am guessing that you are falling into the newbie trap of not posting in UTC. Date/time is a major problem in coding (There's the infamous example of crossing one US state and having to deal with 7 time zones). Can I suggest that you always post to an...

Re: My Pi / Python script stops at 5 am

Sorry your post is almost unreadable so I must assume some stuff. To paraphrase something is happening at 5am and in answer to that question. To troubleshoot, log in to a terminal on your pi dmesg -T cat /var/log/syslog and look for anything around 5am especially errors The other option is to use py...

Re: Setting up a Pi 3 for the long haul?

:D :D love the suggestions. I don't know if I am trolling I probably am.You are basically saying that you should buy a really really good sd card that costs more than the pi rather than say that the sd card is the implicit weakness of a pi.

I love being part of an unbiased forum supported by non anecdotal evidence  . USB drive boot still in beta. Just because it hasn't happened to you doesn't mean it won't happen.

First rule of setting up for the long haul is expect failure. Buy two(maybe three or four) of everything

Whilst the rp is a fun bit of hardware you forget the basics. It's os runs on an sd card designed to take a few thousand pictures. There is no long run.

Re: Standalone server

I see where you are going as an app dev guy I would love a demo without networks. Unfortunately you cant without extra hardware. You will need a router. The raspi can be setup as a router but you'll need an antenna. Probably best to use a router/access point and fixed ip addresses.
