Raspberry Pi3v - what size capacitor?
Hello, I am using the raspberry pi3 on an Atrix lapdock and want to use a capacitor to make sure the pie will stay powered up when power is removed for 3 seconds (accidental lid close). A 1000uf capacitor was needed to boot without the lightning bolt coming up on the screen. This tells me that there...

49.860MHZ transmitter.
Hello, I am hoping to control a robot (Tomy Omnibot) by transmitting command tones at 49.860MHZ (not sure if it is AM or FM) from the Raspberry Pi. I am looking for a transmitter that would work for the following frequencies - 49.860 Mhz - 27.145 Mhz - 40.680 Mhz Is there anything you know of or rec...

Correct buffered line driver IC?
I have one of the DIY Gertboards and have just assembled it the other day. There were no line driver ICs (MC74HC244AN) in the package. I went to my local electronics store (Jaycar) and they gave me a substitution of SN74HC244N as it was the closest thing that they kept in stock. Is this a suitable s...

Re: Rasberry Pi RC Car + Camera??
Thanks Daniel,
That looks like a great start! I will try and work through all the information (a lot of it is above my head but that's what this project is all about "learning to use the pi and Linux")
Tanks again

Re: Lunar Rover assistance.
Thanks for the advice Ravenouse!!, My immediate need is for advice on how to host a website/app on the Pi. The website/app needs to - Be accessible by a browser (presumably this will make is possible for any style of computer to use the rover e.g. mac, pc, phone.) - Show the output of a camera (Pi c...

Re: Gert Board Discontinued?
Well here’s my two cents worth, As far as I can tell Element 14 appear to be a company that is geared towards supplying manufacturing and electronics professionals. I’m sure that they would love to sell everyone an unpopulated Gertboard (let’s face it they are a company and we have money) however I ...

Gert Board Discontinued?
I was lucky enough to receieve my gertboard from Element 14 in australia yesterday and I noticed that there was a note on the invoice that the Gertboard will not be stocked in the future. I thought that I had better get a few for presents before they run out. So I went to http://au.element14.com/jsp...

Re: RS & Allied Update #3 (27 Sep)
Everyone here is upset and rightly so. - It seems to me that RS has not taken responsibility for their inability to make deliveries. Instead they artfully palm responsibility off to the “high level of demand on the core Raspberry Pi processor chip”. This excuse has been exposed by their competitors ...

Thankyou gentlemen!!!
This worked fine. My router apparently has difficulties with name resolution as I saw it loose other names on DHCP devices. So this made the perfect opportunity to populate /etc/hosts

Renaming my Pi
Hello, I have recently received my second pi in the mail and am not sure how to rename them so that they don't clash being on the same network. Hello, I have been having trouble setting up my Netgear WNA 1100 WI Fi dongle. I want to eliminate a lack of power as a potential cause of failure as I read that the WNA1100 is power hungry. Re: Cheap powered USB hub?
I had one of these from e-bay that was very cheep. I stoped using it after I noticed that when I used it and unpluged the Pi that the Pi was still powered and did all kinds of crazy stuff. I would agree avoid like the plague!!!!!
P.S. You could tell that my unit was manufactured very poorly.

Installing a NETGEAR WNA1100 on Squeeze 19-4-2012
Hello, I purchased a Netgear WNA110 for my Pi as it was on the working RPi VerifiedPeripherals list at elinux. I have followed the guide at E linux for setting up preherisals. As my usb stick has the same chipset as the example I thought it would work identical. When I get to the step to confirm the...
