Re: building new sd card Q, preconfigured for my use

crickets Since the above post I've built 2 more kernels, and found then all now missing the arch/arm/boot/dts/overlays directory. Can I assume that the zImage being built now compensates for this, by looking for the "overlays" in the dts directory? If not, where do I put the stuff formerly put in /b...

building new sd card Q, preconfigured for my use

Hi All; I've installed the full 10.1 image to a fresh 64G card, and have replaced the networking with stuff from a running card so I should have networking up and running at boot up. (insert laff track here). Stuff replaced includes /etc/fstab because the running card has a couple ssd's plugged into...

Re: Remote Connection from Pi to PC

I found that pi to linux pc and vice versa for terminal logins works well going both ways to other linux hosts. And that for non-root file sharing sshnet using sshfs works well running raspbian buster10.2 with a realtime kernel. This pi, an rpi4 has a main job of running LinuxCNC to operate an 11x54...

Re: New RT (Real Time) kernel branch

two probs since the last post. I did finally get an installable kernel, and I think I can do that again. But building linuxcnc from src, and making a deb out of it led eventually to being locked out,while trying to locate and install substitutes for a whole list of missing python2 stuffs. linuxcnc-u...

Re: New RT (Real Time) kernel branch

you asked what does git branch -vv report. After doing a git clone to get the rt branch of 4.14.y-rt so I could build the realtime version of the later stretch 4.14.y kernel. I get a neutered, no realtime options .config, and git branch -vv reports: rpi-4.14.y-rt e46e9c282 [origin/rpi-4.14.y-rt] Bac...

Re: New RT (Real Time) kernel branch

Is there someplace in your archives where I can acquire the /boot/fixup* stuff for a pi3? In one of my earlier what should have been /boot/overlays cp's, in an earlier attempt, I almost filled the /boot partition, and my cleanup was a bit too enthusiastic. Or, how do I mount a stretch .iso so I can ...

Re: New RT (Real Time) kernel branch

this line is different from the Doc I was following git clone --depth=1 --branch rpi-4.19.y-rt https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux The git pull was 178 megs, where what I was doing only pulled 98 megs. The make bcm2709_defconfig generated a good looking .config so I expect the rest if it will work ...

Re: New RT (Real Time) kernel branch

Good question, I've been cleaning house, pulling stuff from all over the planet trying to find a 4.19 or later kernel that even has an arch/arm/bcm2709_defconfig with the needed options listed, turned on, or off, to allow a fully preemptable kernel to be built. But right now the workspace on a 240Gi...

Code: Select all

CONFIG_PREEMPT_RT_BASE=y
CONFIG_PREEMPT_RT_FULL=y
CONFIG_RT_MUTEXES=y

Which RT stuff is missing?

all of the above.

Re: New RT (Real Time) kernel branch

I blew those pulls away on both boards and added -rt to the --branch make a 4.19.y-rt pull. No errors on either machine, but no diffs either, a make bcm27xx_defconfig still produces a .config thats missing the above configure lines to build a fully preemptable kernel. on both boards. What did I scre...

Re: New RT (Real Time) kernel branch

unfortunately, the build instructions above will not allow a preempt-rt build, so while it boots nice, there is no realtime. Digging thru the github link, and looking at the bcm2711_defconfig, all the realtime stuff is missing. And if added to the .config, from another src, it is all removed by the ...

Re: OpenGL on Buster on both Pi 3 and Pi 4

Coming to this party a bit late, I have a pi3 that been running LinuxCNC with a realtimepi self built stretch kernel. Everything runs fine except the video is glacial, like glxgears pulled out to a full 1920x1080 screen is about 1.7 fps. But buster 10.1 & .2 has new video drivers and can do that sam...

Where can I get the src for 4.19.66-v7+ #1253 SMP Thu Aug 15 11:49:46 BST 2019 armv7l, complete with the config that built it? Uncommenting the deb-src lines doesn't seem to show the src for this kernel. Then, do you have a...

Re: Obtain CPU Temperature in Kernel

according to the command at the start of this thread, /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp, I get a large integer of 34862, which doesn't seem to change. How is that translated into a meaningful figure? This pi is actively fan cooled.

Thanks.

is that kernel now available as an installable deb? The new package manager sorting is no match for synaptic and I can't find the answer with its somewhat abbreviated comments. I need the .config for the new 4.19.50-v7 kernel just released

I have a need to recover the .config that bullt the kernel that apt just installed last afternoon, but cannot find it stored on the rebooted machine. This is the .config that just gave me an 11x improvement in video speed.

What package should I download to get THAT .config?
