Re: tinycore port to raspi

<t>TinyCore is mostly Kernel about 10MB total size I used TinyCore on a Pentium 166Mhz 32MB RAM with no problem so it will work nice on raspberry since the A model only has 128MB RAM.<br/> As for model B with 256MB RAM will still be at the edge with large distro. I used to have a PIII 700MHz with 25...

Re: how does the pis arm 11 compare to the kirkwood arm 5

The marvell kirkwood is an ARM9 about 1.1DMIPS/MHz vs 1.25DMIPS/MHz on the raspberry ARM11
Marvell works at 1GHz has a total of 1100DMIPS and BCM2835 @ 700MHz on the raspberry pi 875DMIPS
If you want better performance you will need an cortex A8 or A9 2DMIPS/MHz and 2.5DMIPS/MHz

Re: Tiered donation release?

Limiting the number of devices sold to one person is the method I prefer.
I do not like the idea of donation. I do not want to explain here but I will only buy when the total = price of the device + shipping.

Re: 64-bit ARM architecture: ARMv8

ARMv8 will be necessary not only for servers if you want more than 4GB of ram and that will happen for sure by 2014 sine 1GB is now common for tablets and smart-phones and from 2012 a lot of them will use 2GB
As for RaspberryPi it uses the older ARM1176 that is ARMv6.

Re: Power consumption?

Power consumption of model B without GPU or display?
Can the SOC be underclocked ? How easy is that ? HW or just SW?
Are all switching DC-DC converters or there are some linear on the final board?
When will the spec for the SOC be resealed?

Re: Broadcom BCM2835 SoC

How easy will it be to underclock the BCM2835 ? preferably a hardware underclock.
Also documentation for the BCM2835 will be necessary at least when you start to sell the product.

I will start with two model B for the Ethernet, additional RAM and USB not important.
Also I will not buy in the first two weeks.
