Re: Arm and SOC

Now I see.
Thank you very much for your replies.

Heater, I don't want to build anything. Just curious about how things work on arm world. Also, I'm from computer science so I don't trust myself to build boards, only to program them :D

Thank you very much guys for the replies,
happy new year

Re: Arm and SOC

Let's say i want to build a NAS, similar to the d-link you mentioned. There's no way to find public available arm socs? So I can see if they can be suitable for my board or choose the closer one if I want to save the development of the SoC, even if I have to buy >100.000 units for a board. I'm using...

Arm and SOC

Hello! I know this may sound naive question, but this came out to my mind some days ago while looking for information about arm soc model at my rpi. I couldn't find anything related to the chip, but from this forums. I was thinking this was kind of similar to PC world, where you can buy the chip (in...

No shared libraries

Hi again, I'm trying to build a very simple firmware, using the github repository stuff. I got the cross-compiler, the target_fs, and the kernel (cutdown, and kernel.img). Then I cross-compiled zlib and libjpeg with no problem, and after that i tiny program i did. For my surprise, the firmware canno...

Directfb/Pi

Hi again, Anyone has been able to run directfb on a raspberry pi? I'm able to compile, I'm trying to use the gfxdriver=gles (algo tried none) with fbdev or egl but no luck. I'm getting this error with directfb 1.6.1 (*) DirectFB/Core: Single Application Core. (2010-06-29 16:09) [ DEBUG ] (!) DirectF...

Re: undefined reference to `dlopen'

I'm not targeting raspbian. I'm using the target_fs and cross-compiler tools at the github, my intention is to build a tiny firmware from using this base. Just for learning. I checked the arm-bcm2708hardfp-linux-gnueabi-gcc -v, and I could not find the path you mentioned. I though it should be there...

undefined reference to `dlopen'

Hello again!! I'm using the cross-compiler in the raspberry pi repository at github. When trying to cross-compile directfb, I'm getting this error: libtool: link: warning: library `/home/projects/rpi/tools/arm-bcm2708/x86-linux64-cross-arm-linux-hardfp/bin/../arm-bcm2708hardfp-linux-gnueabi//sys-roo...

Re: Custom Build

Sorry to insist,

But about the firmware file to load in the SD, does it need any special format?
Are there any sources available for the boot loader?

thanks!

Re: Custom Build

Thanks Dexos for the reply. I read the hole thread you said :) About the loader, the only options I have is to use the ones provided in the https://github.com/raspberrypi/firmware? I mean, no sources? The firmaware file format, is the tipical one: cat loader kernel rootfs > firm? Or do i need to do ...

Custom Build

Hello! I just got my raspberry pi. After trying the available distros, I want to build my tiny custom firmware. (not a full distro). I downloaded everything from github, and I have a doublt about the boot directory. Why there are so many different .elf files? About the mkimg python scripts, is it ne...
