Re: RS Orders

Well, the only reason I posted it was simply because the report says that they had asked for a response and didn't get one. No trawling by either party was needed, even less so now I found it. I was trying to bring the Foundation's attention to it just on the off-chance that the reporter was lying t...

RS Orders

Apparently, neither RS or the Foundation has responded to this article about RS customers from June still waiting for their orders. http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/articles/391521/20121005/rs-components-raspberry-pi-raspi-allied-customer.htm Can I suggest someone talks to them because right now RS is not l...

Re: adding this screen help please.

I've got the same problem as the other poster - a row of white blocks but nothing happens when I try to output to the LCD.
Anyone know what this means?

This is me being an awkward sod, of course. Just wish I had known the difference before I'd ordered a Pi from elsewhere!

Fine, so they're a company that has two halves that don't talk to each other or co-operate with stock levels. Reassuring!

Re: Buying a Pi - website survey

CPC _is_ Farnell. Their sites are almost identical, same prices, different branding.
As for getting it next day... they say on their site that the delivery will be in the next 3 weeks. Nothing about 'next day'.

Buying a Pi - website survey

Hi.
I've just completed my survey of 20 websites that are currently selling the Pi (notwithstanding, but including those that do not have current stock).

Just in case anyone's interested, here's a link to my blogpost:

Re: Odd problem... possibly USB

Ah, yes, the power surge thingy... I've got a 7" LCD that I had to jerry rig the power and signal cable for by doing some soldering. Now, I've not soldered the live wire up to ANYTHING except more live wire, so I'm sure that's not the issue. However, I did solder all the grounds together to tidy it ...

Odd problem... possibly USB

Hi all. I think I might have damaged my Pi somehow, possibly a bit of a power surge through the composite video port, but I'm not sure. Basically, when I boot up, sometimes it _does_ boot up, sometimes it doesn't. The most reproduceable problem is: 1. Boot up Pi with keyboard _only_ attached and com...

Re: Maplin Electronics (UK) now have Raspberry Pis in stock

see my previous post - run all those commands plus "dmesg" which should tell you what's happening. Try this procedure for dmesg: 1. Start Pi without dongle 2. Run dmesg, make a note of what the last entry is. 3. Insert dongle 4. Run dmesg and look to see if there are any problems _after_ that entry ...

I seem to remember class 10 cards aren't fully supported - have you checked compatibility on the list of peripherals on the Wiki?

Re: How do I power Car LCD Monitor?

Well! I tried it using Shea Silverman's method of 5V plus ground from the Pi into the 3.5" screen board. It didn't work - the screen flicks on (goes sort-of white) for a fraction of a second then goes off, then about 10 secs later it does the same, over and over again. I _suspect_ this means that th...

Re: How do I power Car LCD Monitor?

Now _that_ is a result :-)
I've got virtually the same kit. Slightly worried about trying to power the screen... What I really want to do is power it with 5V from the GPIO pins... I know it can be done with a 3.5" screen, but with the 7" screen? I dunno...

I did suggest to IP Adelt that they approach Maplin with their plastic case-on-a-board, but looks like they either didn't or were turned down. Good case, though.

Your pic isn't showing - i think it's using a local address on your PC. You'll need to upload it somewhere first and use that URL. Apologies if you know this already ;-)
