Has anyone had success with "visolate"???

I'm in the process of putting together a small CNC for printed circuits. I had high hopes to use visolate to produce Voronoi isolation pcb's, but I haven't had any luck getting it running. It is, after all, in the raspbian repository, but after further study of its inner workings I'm not even even s...

KiCAD Autorouter Faints

I have NO idea where to post this, so I'm putting this in "Off Topic" Anybody had issues with latest Rasbian releases and KiCAD? I'd used the autorouter function in pcbnew last February and had no issues. Recently I tried a simple circuit , a transistor h-bridge and it crashes after about 2 seconds....

Re: USBasp + arduino IDE on Pi. help! (solved)

Thanks anyhow. Like you, the situation magically resolved itself. After once using the "Upload using progtammer" option, it now uses it exclusively (strange, I edited that In the preferences file). Ummm, that and a small wiring error in my 10to6 pin adaptor... I think that one is more about vanity a...

The air may be tinged slightly blue for a while.
About the same luck I'm gonna have soldering wires to the terminals of a salvaged color display from an old Nokia.

@ toxibunny
I'm having similar issues, but none of that good stuff is working. BTW, what serial port was your USBASP reporting on? /dev/ttyACM0 or /dev/ttyS0 ?

Re: Pi on / off PSU relay switch

Since the relay I found was rated at only 500mA I eliminated the 47K resistor and used it to switch the mains. It controls a Gino 5V/5A PS I found on eBay. That's more than enough for the Pi, the hub and peripherals, a couple of HDDs and my phone when I'm uploading or downloading.

Re: I think there is a world market for maybe five computers

I predict that by 2014 there will be a computer in every computer. Discuss. ;) Already there. 7 adults in this house, and my wife and I just upgraded our Androids to newer Samsungs with UMA. Imagine my shock when upon returning home from work one day last week my router issued me the IP 192.168.2. ...

Re: Great Debate of the Age

I suppose if you're an absolute masochist, you'd be inclined to use starch. Otherwise, ironing underwear would seem to defeat its purpose... it's supposed to be a fluffy, sweat-absorbing barrier and I'm sure ironing all the minute convolutions out would reduce the absorency. Also, I've never seen a ...

30 years ago I could sit for hours, days if it were possible, in front of a Color Computer connected to a crappy TV with bad color alignment in a folding chair with a bent leg, sagging seat and a 10 degree list to starboard. Now I'm challenged to spend more than 15 minutes in a relatively comfortabl...

ICEWEASEL, baby!!! Stupid me... kept passing it up trying to find a way to get Firefox on my Pi until i realized the pun. I've used Firefox for years. I was happy to find my favorite add-ons for firefox were available in Iceweasel. I was sceptical about Chrome, and now it's banned from our house. To...

When I got my Pi, I set a news category for "Raspberry Pi" on my android's Genie news widget. I was pleased to find several new articles each day, but disgusted at breadth and depth of ignorance expressed in some of the comments readers had left. I won't go into detail. So, to those of my countrymen...

Re: Wifi disconnects after a random amount of time

I had something like that happening with my Netgear WiFi dongle. Glitched and disconnected arbitrarily at random intervals. Rearranged my USB devices (more for aesthetic purposes) and ended up solving it. WiFi and powered hub are plugged into Pi, keyboard and mouse are further downstream on another ...

How well I know, in my father's business we had to coordinate with designers, vendors and installers. I had to get a local printing company to supply us with a stack of mini Pantone charts to Fedex to the colorblind.

No Display in HDMI mode when booting Debian

This one has left me scratching my head. When I got my Pi and booted it the first time with Debian, I noticed there was no display. My TV (a Philips 20" - 1080p is native mode) was showing it was in HDMI2 mode, but no boot stuff. OK, I figured the display didn't initialize, maybe the TV didn't finis...

My first Pi was delivered on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately, I'm using it as my primary PC. Now for jumping into experimentation with RISC-OS or something else a little nearer to...

Just a few thoughts I've been tossing around lately, y'all decide whether or not it's BS. Everyone may be making the problem too difficult by trying to emulate wetware functions in hardware. The key may be playing to the strengths of hardware rather than forcing it into such an awkward model. We nee...

Re: Is Raspberry Pi destroying the old economy?

It may be the bump we've needed. It's the Apple I of this generation. The old economy is completely cornered by Microsoft. Even if they were economically viable, there's just no room for startups. They get crushed or swallowed immediately. The new(er) economy is the mobile market, and it's where the...
