Re: Q. Is a Raspberry Pi a good computer for internet banking / shopping?

But what he say is true any OS (that's online) is vulnerable to attacks, no matter what a group of fans may say. The best thing to do is use common sense and have good habits to make surfing a safer (which is not the same as 100% safe) I think the idea of using a different computer like a Pi for ba...

Re: Weird micro SD card failures?

SD Cards are ticking bombs per se... even more when you use them to host a OS that may see a lot write/read cycles.. If they lasted for years then you should be happy with Samsung, because those SD were not meant to be used to host an OS.

It's no more nor no less secure than any other Linux system. Linux systems are no more nor less secure than a fully up to date Windows 10 system with a modern web browser. I think you're being overly paranoid. oh oh, now you are going to face the lynching mob of "I use linux because it is SECURE!!!...

Re: Whoa, cheap flash memory prices?!

Premier Farnell (element14) has 3500 employees, that's not a small company, and they have a license to make the Pi and have (own) the manufacturing facilities at Embest where some of them are made. The NOOBs cards will have been purchased before the prices dropped, it then takes someone time and se...

What do you want to learn?? That when the developer says "This is the minimium system requirements" they are not telling lies??? Maybe they aren't. Maybe they are. How does one know unless one puts it to the test, tries it for themselves ? People keep saying Windows 10 full desktop won't ever run o...

It's pointless I would say educational. It may be as you describe, I suspect it likely will be, but there's no definitive answer until someone does try it. And an evidenced answer is always better than a speculative one in my experience. 1) I fail to see how it can be educational. 2) Is not specula...

Re: A good battery for the Pi 3B+?

The Mi Power Bank 20000mAh it's rated at 5.1v 3.6a. So it should do the trick for what you want. But remember that power banks are meant to charge and not act as a power supply. They will work sure, but sometimes you may V drops. I used to use a romoss 5v 2.5a with a Pi3b and it worked fine but in s...

Re: Sandisk Ultra problem

Just to add another "vote" to the fake Sd card. I mostly use sandisk in various flavours from 8 gb to 128 gb, they may not be the fastest when you compare them to more expensive brands, but they boot raspbian quite fast and they are fast when working with the OS too. Most likely it's a fake sd card,...

Just looked on Amazon and it says I can buy a 128GB class 10 A1 sandisk ultra for £22! It makes the pre formatted 32 GB NOOBS card look like a rip off! When did SD cards get so cheap?! So you are comparing Sandisk a giant company that's owned by Western Digital an even bigger company that makes the...

Re: Most stable arcade games emulator

Trying to run retroarch while running raspbian desktop is only going to result in very poor results. Just dual boot Raspbian and Lakka. Lakka is a bit faster than retropie and recalbox, since it doesn't use emulationstation and then loads retroarch... Lakka is plain retroarch for linux distros and P...

So i have a logitech mouse and keyboard, the m185 mouse(basically the cheapest ones I could get) to use with retropie. Problem is it doesn't recognize the wireless mouse at all. I know the mouse is fine because on another SD card I have the standard rasbian desktop to help myself with learning prog...

Re: B and X buttons are inverted in games but not menu

I'd suggest trying the retropi forums. Personal rant: The Raspberry Pi is a learning platform, not a games console, torrent box or media player. That it can be used as such, is an annoying bonus. Oh well,, then you should remove the gaming sub forum from this forum, that will fix people asking ques...

Re: How is GBA emulation on RPi3?

I'm thinking of buying a freeplay CM3, and so I was just wondering, how is GBA emulation really? Since it's the gba form factor, I'd hate for Pi 3's GBA emulation to be laggy or with glitchy audio. Does it run full speed, or is it merely "playable"? It's fully playable, the P3 has plenty of power t...

Do you have a solution ?
It's most likely that you don't permission to write/read the files you copied. Set all the files from Valve to be write and read by "anyone".

If you have all of the packages installed

My mistake, i was missing a package. Since i did compile Q3lite before in my current install i didn't check for the packages..... It seems that at some point i did delete one of them "libasound2-dev". Now it did compile fine.
