Re: Temp & Humidity readings "flatline"

Nope, it wasn't the power supply. Bizarre. If I resolve this, I'll post the solution.

Re: Temp & Humidity readings "flatline"

Thanks for the reference, but that issue -- while similar -- is not quite the same. He gets zero values for temp and humidity while I get the same non-zero value. It appears in my case as is if the sensor was working up to a point, then it croaked but continued to send the last good readings repeate...

Temp & Humidity readings "flatline"

I deploy dozens of Raspberry Pi's with Sense Hats every year. On rare occasions, the temperature and humidity readings on one device will stop changing, i.e. the last good readings will repeat forever. The time that it takes for the issue to develop varies from a few hours to several months. Interes...

Re: Pi 4B boots great unless no HDMI

Fixed. On a whim, I tried uncommenting this line in /boot/config.txt

Code: Select all

hdmi_safe=1
It boots fine now. Is there a reason why this is done differently?

Pi 4B boots great unless no HDMI

I've grown accustomed to setting up the Pi 3B/B+ to run headless without doing anything special. When I'm configuring the pi I have an HDMI cable plugged in, and I boot to the desktop. When I deploy the device, there's no HDMI cable plugged in, and this has always worked fine. I understand that the ...

Wanted: Case for Pi 4 with sense hat

Are people still using sense hats with the raspberry pi 4? I can't understand why it's so hard to find a case that supports this setup. Does anyone have any leads? I'm at the point where I'm ready to try my hand at 3D printing, which would be a massive distraction.

Thanks!

Re: Pi hangs on reboot via cron

I'm surprised that nobody has replied to your post. I assume that by now you've decided not to reboot weekly, which is probably the right choice. From what I've read, there's no reason to reboot "to keep things 'fresh'". There are good reasons to reboot, e.g. if you had an automated software update ...

Weird disks in /media/pi

I'm using a primitive method to detect the insertion of a USB flash drive. I poll using: ls /media/pi > disklist.txt This produces a file with a list of disks (or none). I interrogate each disk looking for a file with a specific name. After installing an updated version of stretch, a new disk appear...

Re: command line version of piclone?

I used sdclone successfully (see github link above) and it got me out of a pickle. I have an RPi model 3A+ which has only one USB port. This enabled me to SSH in and successfully clone the current SD card. Tips for newbies: use command lsblk which yields NAME MAJ:MIN RM SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT sda 8...

Re: Case for RPi 3A+ and Sense HAT?

Do it need flashing lights and rainbow colours I like those things, but I can get by without :) Ok, I wasn't sure if the 3A+ was compatible with a previous A+ layout, in which case a case would already exist. The one that JamesPi123 recommended is out of stock so I guess she'll be a chilly pi for a...

Re: Keyboard not working on new RPi 3A+

I'm pretty sure that the delay issue is not related to the power supply because I regularly run a 3B, 3B+ and now 3A+ on the same PS with no problem. Whether there's some new power issue on the 3A+, I can't say, but it seems unlikely. I noticed that the delay issue only happens when I change the key...

Re: Keyboard not working on new RPi 3A+

For power I'm using an AC/DC adapter that has output of 5.0V / 2500 mA. It's working fine, as far as I can tell. No lightning bolt, all systems boot up with no trouble (i.e. RPi 3B, 3B+, 3A+). The fact that my new Perixx keyboard works fine on the Mac implies that the problem is not with the keyboar...

Keyboard not working on new RPi 3A+

Glad to get my hands on the new 3A+. I immediately outfitted it with NOOBS 3.0.0 on an 8GB card and added a Sense HAT. I was able to get all software installed (Node-RED 19.5 and my application flows). Unfortunately, I can only use either a USB mouse or a USB keyboard at once because my USB hub isn'...

Re: Bluetooth adapter NOT found Raspberry Pi 3

There's a typo in Nerdlinger's instructions. The 7th command should contain bluetooth with a lower-case 'b'.

In any case, this didn't help me either. When I do

Code: Select all

sudo hciconfig hci0 up
as suggested by Douglas6, the response is "Can't get device info: No such device".

Re: After last updates RPI 3+ hangs on shurdown/reboot if bluetooth off

Is there an update on this issue? I'm able to reproduce the problem consistently:

Raspian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch), Kernel Linux 4.14.69-v7+ on RPI 3+ with Bluetooth off hangs on shutdown every time.

Shutdown and reboot work if Bluetooth is on. I can't ship my product with Bluetooth on.

Thanks, that resolved my issue.

Is this considered a bug? Seems like desktop or CLI configurators should both update the same config.

Boot to CLI resets keyboard to default

After selecting a US keyboard and installing my app, I configure the system to boot to CLI without logging on to pi. Recently I've found that, after this final step, the keyboard setting reverts to a non-US keyboard (when I type "@", I get double-quote). Anyone else seeing this?

Re: Need stacking header with same pins as pi

OK, I'll assume that I can't get a pi-pin stacking header. I also tried to use a 40-pin ribbon cable, but this, too, comes off too easily. What I need is a way to securely attach the ribbon cable connector to the stacking header, preferably with a latching mechanism. Has that problem been solved?

Need stacking header with same pins as pi

My pi has a Sense HAT on top. I use a stacking header to expose the pins for other uses. While the stacking header that I acquired from Adafruit (https://www.adafruit.com/product/2223) exposes the pins, the shape and thickness of the pins are different than the pins on the pi itself. Consequently, t...

Can't fit pi 3 model b in case due to sloppy cut on PCB

A few days ago I received two Raspberry Pi 3 Model B units from Allied. When I tried to insert the RPi into my CBPIHAT-BLK pi hat enclosure, it wasn't fitting properly. I was able to force it in (and sliced my thumb in the process) but then the top of the enclosure didn't fit. Upon closer inspection...

Re: Sense Hat - High CPU Usage

It worked for me, as well! I would just note that there is no "libatlas" option per se, although there is only one option that contains the word "atlas" among the choices (option 1 in both cases).

Thanks so much for your help!
