Re: Rainbow Screen

Not sure which file did the trick, and it might be that I downloaded the latest kernel.img and not the old one (shouldn't have made a difference I don't think, but ok...). I replaced arm192_start.elf, arm224_start.elf, start.elf, kernel.img, and kernel_cutdown.img with the latest versions. works

Re: Rainbow Screen

Hey! I've been using Debian Squeeze for several months and I just got this issue for the first time. I think it was a firmware update.

So I replaced the kernel.img with the one from an older backup I had which works. But I still have the same rainbow screen.

What else could be wrong?

Re: raspberrypi stickers!

Hey. what are the chances the foundation could get on this? If they don't want to sell stickers, could we make our own and distribute them? Not that we want to steal the logo or steal your intellectual property (I think that concept is BS but I generally try to respect it), but if you aren't going ...

Re: ModMyPi Raspberry Pi Cases

Ok so I have to admit when I saw the pibow, I was somewhat wary of whether I'd made the right decision on my case.. but it (finally) arrived today and the modmypi case is fantastic! I've experienced no discernable movement inside the case-- which is great. It does wiggle some when I add and remove c...

Re: Minecraft on Raspberry Pi ? (yes I m crazy)

Many people have said Minecraft isn't written well, and that may be true, but there's a lot going on in the game which helps explain why it has trouble running on lower-level machines. Yes, the graphics are simple, but it's rendering innumerable blocks at a time, having to constantly update itself a...

So I just tested this on Raspbian, works great! I mean I died, the game kind of sucks right now.. yes I know it's in alpha... but it looked and worked great. So I mean, yeah, the internet connection thing is weird. No, my connection isn't slow, no, it's not cutting out. Something doesn't work either...

Re: Torrent apps gives a kernel panic

I'm glad to know I was not the only person with this issue. Hopefully there will be a fix soon!

p.s. I know the debate has been quelled, but why would debian be providing a kernel that doesn't support torrenting? this is the kind of thing people notice really quickly..

Re: Cave Story Working :)

Don't know if it's "supposed" to be laggy in the cinematics but on my overclocked pi everything is perfect! Come gameplay, there is definite lag, i.e. stops every couple of seconds. Please see if that can be fixed! Thanks!

On topic, I agree. Seriously, the 25 dollar thing isn't true at all. It's 45 dollars. maybe closer to 30 with the cheaper model, which doesn't exist yet.

ScummVM/DOS Games on Pi

So after realizing that Beneath a Steel Sky (apt: beneath-a-steel-sky) and Flight of the Amazon Queen (apt: flight-of-the-amazon-queen) are available in the debian repos and that they play perfectly on the pi under ScummVM (apt: scummvm), I wondered if other games that aren't available in the debian...

Re: Python interface for omxplayer now working (I hope)

The problem is that my file definitely exists-- do I need to put the name in quotes? Is there some input format I'm unfamiliar with? I'm not really sure what's going on. I just tested again. If I make the working directory the pyomxplayer directory and try using a file in another directory (which ap...

Re: Python interface for omxplayer now working (I hope)

I tested it out-- when I tell it the name of the file I want, it pretends I didn't give it a file and it keeps asking again. It understands "bye" though, so that's good I guess. Also, since I haven't tested it with an actual file, I can't confirm this, but since it asks "HDMI or local" output at the...

Re: Overclocking

Well I ended up having to work from a backup I made Sunday, which has turned out ok, since I've reached the same point I was at before the disaster, basically. I've reverted back to 850 arm, 350 core, 500 sdram. It's working fine, no problems, and I've noticed some definite improvements in performan...
