Re: eMMC flash memory reliability

As far as I understand the BCM2837 does the (dynamic or static?) wear leveling so the information is available... Where did you hear this? It's not something I've come across. If there is any wear levelling it is more likely to be in the device itself or in the OS. PhilE, you are absolutely right. ...

Re: CM3 module availability

Dear Mike,
thank you very much for your detailed answer. You made my day.
I just wonder now why RS told our purchasing department that the product is no longer available because it is discontinued.

Thank you again,
John

CM3 module availability

Dear all,
we currently have problems buying CM3 (not lite) modules in germany. Are the Compute Module 3 discontinued or what happened here?

Thank you for any reply, John

Re: CM3 crashes with minimal-cm-dt-blob.dts

Oh great, this was a very useful hint. I've measured VDD_Core on the Compute Module IO Board V3.0 with https://raw.githubusercontent.com/raspberrypi/documentation/master/hardware/computemodule/minimal-cm-dt-blob.dts I measure 1.237V while booting and see kernel panics at random locations, with the f...

CM3 crashes with minimal-cm-dt-blob.dts

Dear all, since approx. 3 months we see CM3 modules (1 out of 10) having a kernel panic/crashing at different locations on boot after flashing our image. I tracked it down that these modules which fail also fail with a new raspbian lite image and minimal-cm-dt-blob.dts from https://github.com/raspbe...

Voltages needed for fast shutdown

Dear all,
the datasheet says dem CM3 needs all three voltages 5V, 3.3V, 1.8V at all time (even if there is for example no connection on the GPIO banks).
Is this still true for a system shutdown or can 3.3V or 1.8V be disconnected early

CM3, set duty_cycle on boot

Since 4.9 the pwm overlay runs out of the box without having to start the clock. (But the https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/blob/rpi-4.9.y/arch/arm/boot/dts/overlays/README still says Currently the clock must have been enabled and configured by other means) But I wan't to set duty_cycle and perio...

Re: How to use UART 1 on Raspberry Pi CM3 ?

I had the same problem (using both UARTS on a CM3 simultaneously) The UART1 depends on the system clock which can be changed by the "ondemand" governor. So the only way I found to get UART1 working reliably is to disable the governor. Here is my config, also with some explanations: force_turbo=1 ena...

CM3, UART1 usability

Dear all. The UART1 (sometimes called miniUART on GPIO32+33) obviously depends on the system clock. Is the only way to use it to disable the "ondemand" governor with "force_turbo=1" and is this save without CPU heatsink? I currently use the default clocks: arm_freq=1200 core_freq=400 gpu_freq=300 sd...
