Re: On screen keyboard

Sparks135, The following are the steps I just used to install Onboard 1.3.0 on a fresh Raspbian Jessie (2017-04-10-raspbian-jessie.img). I first tried version 1.4.1, but I encountered a small problem that I didn't want to deal with in this case. The Trunk source code did build properly when I origi...

Yes it is the first command posted in the original thread. And Command Not found is the error. apt-get works as I have installed other apps. Also have done an update a few minutes ago. I copied the command from my Mac to text edit then to thumb drive. Connected thumb drive to my Raspberry and copie...

Re: On screen keyboard

Sparks135, I just tried building it again and I did run into a Python error towards the end of the steps (debuild binary). This is due to some recent changes (on April 8th) in the Trunk source code which is constantly under development. I will post revised instructions based on the latest "released...

Re: On screen keyboard

The only on-screen keyboard I like and would recommend is Onboard which you would have to build yourself for Raspbian Jessie (it's available as a package in Raspbian Stretch). I've posted instructions for building Onboard in this thread. I did recently try Florence on Raspbian Jessie and it seemed ...

Re: Strange power situation needs input.

You've mentioned twice the power splitter that came with the screen. I've looked at the Pimoroni, CPC and RS pages, but none mention a splitter, so I'm at a loss as to what you mean. I'd assumed it was a short USB to two USB Y cord, so that nothing much could be affected by it, but I must be wrong....

Re: Strange power situation needs input.

Well, this might not be much help. The Pi requires at least 4.65v - below that the red LED goes out and the lightning bolt appears. I haven't yet got a 7" screen - I'm wanting one but I'm too tight-fisted - so all I can go on is what I've read here. The USB hub says it only takes a few mA, but will...

Re: Strange power situation needs input.

The Pi 3B requires quite a lot of current, and so does the screen (a real time clock won't want much) It might help to know which Auto Power shutdown board you have, and also the power adapters you are trying to use. Here is the auto power shutdown IR Board. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06X9K...

Lots of USB Hats for the Zero, most use the pogo pins though. I don't remember seeing a USB "Hat" for a 3B though? A powered hub will work though. Agreed! Now I need to find a USB Hat for the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B. I need it to be powered, for my project. Not sure if one is available.

Re: Power Adapter

Yeah, the current rating means it can supply "up to" that amount. The actual current drawn depends on what the load is and needs. I use a 5V 10 A power pack on my bread board rig. No magic blue smoke etc. ;) And a 5V 4A power pack on another project that has a powerboost battery charger in it Overk...

Re: GPU & CPU Temp in Fahrenheit

This is NOT a Device Tree question, so you're in the wrong forum - beginners might have been better - but here you go: #!/bin/bash gpu=$(/opt/vc/bin/vcgencmd measure_temp | awk -F "[=\']" '{print $2}') cpu=$(</sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp) cpu=$(echo "$cpu / 100 * 0.1" | bc) cpuf=$(echo "(1...

Is this the supply? http://www.ebay.com/itm/PWR-6-5-Ft-Fastest-5V-3-5A-AC-Adapter-Wall-Charger-Micro-USB-Power-Supply-Cord-/231279751290 If the manufacturer says it has "too high an amp rating and should not be used" then the back of his neck should be examined for extraneous orifices. Re: Bought USB 16gb ssd can't see it on Mac

I had to do it the hard way. I put the SSD in an old mac with Mountain Lion, formated it as Mac Guid and then took a blank SD card and put both into the Pi Hub. I used the SD copy utility and copied the blank SD card to the SSD which erased and formatted ast Fat32. I then moved it back to the Mac an...
