Re: Raspberry Pi builtin WiFi keeps crashing

Maybe its not a big number of chips sold for them, but this is not about some network card which the can be replaced if it doesn't work, but about a crucial component of a famous system which can ruin it all and hence result in a major loss of their reputation. I could also imagine that the next wif...

Re: Raspberry Pi builtin WiFi keeps crashing

I see. Then it is surprising that it takes Cypress months to fix this, after 5 million Raspberry Pi 3 have been sold and are affected.

Or are there any distributions which might not be affected?

Re: Raspberry Pi builtin WiFi keeps crashing

@jamesh I didn't know that. By the way is this firmware issue affecting all Raspberry Pi 3 systems or just Raspbian? Did it exist since the beginning or was it introduced later? Its a very serious issue and it seems like one network component is making the whole Raspberry Pi 3 unstable and prevents ...

Re: Raspberry Pi builtin WiFi keeps crashing

From https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/issues/1342 we can see that a few days ago a possible workaround has been committed to broadcom driver in several kernel versions. So hopefully this fix will make it into our systems soon. I havn't had a chance to check it yet. Another solution is to use a U...

Bug in Samba "net usershare add"

When using the net Tool for administration of Samba and remote CIFS servers, I get this error: raspberrypi:~$ net usershare add net usershare add [-l|--long] <sharename> <path> [<comment>] [<acl>] [<guest_ok=[y|n]>] Adds the specified share name for this user. <sharename> is the new share name. <pat...

I see the same problem with Chromium Version 60.0.3112.89 (Developer Build) Built on Ubuntu 14.04, running on Raspbian 9.1 (32-bit). I also found this bug report which seems related and fixed since November 4: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=870619 This issue was also reported at h...

Thanks, I found the entry in raspi-config (Interfacing Options=>1-Wire), but I would also like to know what changes raspi-config is actually doing so that I can use it in my raspbian config script. Looking at /usr/bin/raspi-config it seems to be commenting in or out dtoverlay=w1-gpio in /boot/config...

Re: w1_master_driver w1_bus_master1: Family 0 for 00.200000000000.23 is not registered.

No, I don't have any of those devices. But seems like this driver is enabled by default and looking for devices. Is this really a good idea or just adding another source of failure? At least it shouldn't report errors if no devices are found, which is the most common situation, and its origin should...

Re: Multiroom audio system via RPi built-in FM radio transmi

Thank you very much! It looks similar to the the other one you posted last time. How can one know if it doesn't have the main hums problem? Re: Multiroom audio system via RPi built-in FM radio transmi

Very interesting, thank you!

Unfortunately after setting up my 15 year old FM radio transmitter with a power adapter it also transmits the 50 Hz mains hum.

Are there any new (USB?) FM transmitters which do not have this problem or how can I avoid this?

Re: Multiroom audio system via RPi built-in FM radio transmi

Why is the Raspberry Pi causing more radio interference than a cheap FM transmitter and how much?

Bluetooth will not work since its range is too short, it can only connect to one device, has sync issues, needs additional power adapters and its software setup is complicated.

Multiroom audio system via RPi built-in FM radio transmitter

While searching for a simple multiroom audio solution I found current setups are quite sophisticated, expensive and experimental by involving new hard and software. DVB-T2 TV with Raspberry Pi 3?

I would like to watch the German terrestrial TV broadcast (DVB-T2) with my Raspberry Pi 3. I have bought a Geniatech T230C and could receive HD channels with Tvheadend 4.2 in LibreELEC 8.0.1. However, the playback stutters, the audio gets asynchronous and after about 30 seconds some sort of reload h...

Re: Information about kernel versions in Raspbian stable

Thank you.

But to help me understand, what is the difference between
on 20 Feb raspberrypi-kernel_1.20170405-1 and
on 20 Feb raspberrypi-kernel_1.20170303-1?

And what will be the next kernel minor version in RPi?
Will it be 4.9? How can one tell?

Re: Information about kernel versions in Raspbian stable

This makes things a bit clearer.
But I am still confused about the kernel versions since https://github.com/raspberrypi/firmware say
`popcornmix kernel: Bump to 4.9.22`
But uname for the stable kernel reports 4.4.50.

So which numbers are correct and what do they mean?

Re: Information about kernel versions in Raspbian stable

I would like to know the release history and schedule about which kernels made it and are going to make it when into stable. One needs this information for many reasons but my particular one is that I bought a Geniatech T230C USB TV stick and I heard it should be supported by kernel 4.11. How long d...
