Yeah, probably - it sounds like you'll have to use 'sudo' to make the folder with elevated permissions

I'd be concerned that that might be more power-hungry... plus it doesn't have the composite input that my screen uses

I've put my latest version on Bitbucket, along with some documentation:

FYI, here's what I've done with the PiCamera library: http://i1.ytimg.com/vi/-8S4kEq3Drk/mqdefault.jpg http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8S4kEq3Drk (I show the camera feature around the 5:10 mark) That is ... well, let's just say I've lost track of the number of hours I've burned on Fallout (Steam ha...

Re: Video4Linux2 driver ready!

For folks who want to get the camera module working in Python, I'd recommend taking a look at the PiCamera library - I've found that to be pretty great, and very nicely documented:

Re: Pure Python camera interface

Ahah! I think I was just googling for 'picamera' and relevant keywords, once I knew that the docs existed - I didn't realise there were old versions too :D

Edit: Yeah, I'd failed to get the current-version example to work - the old-version was just the one I found when writing up the report

Re: Pure Python camera interface

Here's a bug I noticed - if I set the camera's ISO setting to >800, it throws an error stating that the range is 0 to 1600.

The docs suggest it might not actually do anything, but the error ought to at least be consistent ;)

Re: Pure Python camera interface

Excellent, I'll give that a go tonight! I've had a quick play with your code and I suspect the issue is with pygame's image.load behaviour If I remember right, I wasn't actually able to get the example given in the docs to work, as given - no Pygame bits were included: import io import time import p...

Re: Pure Python camera interface

This is an excellent library, exactly what I needed! Excellent level of documentation too, lovely. I've managed to get a reasonable-ish framerate (just over 3fps) using Capture - certainly better than what I was getting by calling raspistill every frame! I haven't managed to get the Capture_Continuo...

Re: Video4Linux2 driver ready!

Closer, but not quite got it working properly yet. Accessing the RaspiCam via Pygame causes a still to be shown on-screen, and attempting to get the image causes the console to lock up: import pygame, sys, os from pygame.locals import * import pygame.camera # Activate uv4l device: os.system("sudo pk...

Re: Video4Linux2 driver ready!

It's "armv6 l ", not "armv6 1 ", in the path. Ahah, that'll be down to not being able to paste into the WebIDE's terminal - I was feeling clever for avoiding typing uv4 1 ext, and completely missed that ;) LD_PRELOAD pointing to the extension library is necessary with python/pygame You can make LD_...

Hi RpiName, should the instructions you posted earlier for getting images via PyGame still work? I've been attempting to get it working, but haven't had any luck yet. I'm running a Pi via ssh, and want to output images to its screen - I'm starting my script via: sudo LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/uv4l/uv4lext...

I saw a lovely wrist-mounted Pi-keyboard - with head-mounted display! - on the frontpage:

I'm seeing this with my Teensy 3.0 too - it sometimes starts repeating a key, sometimes misses keypresses, and sometimes stops working entirely :( I've found that it doesn't work at all if it's attached when the Pi is powered up - the Teensy's code is working (I have LEDs that light up when buttons ...

 I'm curious to see if any progress will be made with this... I'm not sure how useful it'd be as a cosmic ray detector, but could be useful as a primitive radiation dosimeter. Re: Pygame - Programm does not work at lower solution.

I've been having similar problems trying to get my Pi working at 320x240, and have given up on getting it to work with that. However I've found I can work around this by rendering to a 320x240 image, and then scaling that image up to fill 640x480. As well as being more readable on a smaller screen, ...
