Re: remote monitoring of 12v battery

my voltage will typically be around 13.2 but may be a little higher (13.9-14) but will definitely drop to a little below 12 when motors turn on (pulling 30+amps) but should maintain around 12.5 (at battery) while they are running. The other part I'm confused about is which voltage do I use for Vin ...

Re: Powering Pi Zero with a 240V AC - 5V DC module

Hi, I'm completely new to Rasp world. Is anyone using a 240V AC to 5V DC power module like this: https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/3pcs-AC-DC-5V-2-5A-Switching-Power-Supply-Module-5V-2500MA-Bare-Circuit-Board-for/1829717_32760575162.html?isOrigTitle=true I would like to power a Raspberry Pi ...

Re: Humidity and temp sensors for long use in industry...???

I can't speak to the longevity or ruggedness of the humidity sensors but the DS18B20 temp sensors, particularly the ones that are in a stainless case. are quite dependable and look to be pretty robust. Half an answer anyway :) I have never used those, but they do look pretty decent. I have used the...

Re: remote monitoring of 12v battery

[/quote] When you choose your resistors, you're deciding what voltage will be the maximum that the ADC can measure. If you go for the values in V.PNG, so 10k and 14k, it means that 12v out of the battery equals 5v into the ADC, which the ADC will read as maximum (given that the reference for it is 5...

Re: remote monitoring of 12v battery

When selecting resistors for a potential divider circuit I always like to start with R2 being 10K then if you find you can get the desired voltage or the resistor values for R1 do not fall on common values you can always try varying R2 a bit. Another reason for starting with 10K for R2 is that it w...

Re: remote monitoring of 12v battery

Hello guys, don't mean to "hijack" this thread, but I am looking to do something very similar and have found lots of info for people who are looking to have high levels of precision, and I am not. I would like to know the easiest (somewhat affordable, but cost isn't a big deal) way to mon...

SD Card/Boot issues

Hello wise friends! Having intermittent troubles with booting from a Samsung Pro Select 32gb MicroSD. I have 4 cards and it is random which ones will work and when. They all have the same program, and when I boot up the Pi it will either work correctly and run my application, or will get stuck on th...

Re: remote monitoring of 12v battery

I use one of these to monitor several voltages, incuding a 24V battery bank: https://www.abelectronics.co.uk/p/69/ADC-Pi-Zero-Raspberry-Pi-Analogue-to-Digital-converter pcmanbobs link would do the same and be cheaper. You need a resistor divider to bring the battery range within range of the ADC, a...

I can't believe it was that easy...I have been messing with it for weeks, and I already use RealVNC so it was easy.
Thank you so much!

VNC to Pi not showing what's on HDMI touchscreen

Hello everyone, I am having some trouble seeing what is displayed on my 10.1" HDMI Touchscreen via VNC. I can see the desktop no problem, but when I run the application my company uses (custom made) all I see is the terminal window running in the background. The screen shows the program as it s...

Re: Screen recording on Pi

Hello, for starters this thread has been helpful in getting avconv working for me, but I have a question/problem. I am trying to get a screenshot of what is on my HDMI touchscreen running from my rPi 3B. A video would suffice as I could then take a still on my computer. I cannot find any program tha...

Ok here is a copy of the log from yesterday. This is trying to run the program (version with temp/humidity) on Jessie. I know why it cant open the ports listed, everything below that is whats causing the problem. Tue Feb 21 15:33:21 CST 2017 Unable to init server: Could not connect: Connection refus...

Re: Custom program/update to Pixel question

What errors do you get when trying to run the script? Or is it that things just don't run as they did? Are you missing any import dependencies? Python 2.7 previously, 3.5 now? That would cause issues. Jetbrains pycharm is good for pointing out Python issues such as grammar, indentation, line spacin...

Custom program/update to Pixel question

Hello all, I'll start by saying I am a fairly entry level programmer. I am in charge of the program my company has designed (before I started, and they knew I wasn't very experienced in this part, but its a small company.) This program runs off a Pi (Rev. 3b) and when I started it was using Wheezy (...
