Re: Verifying VPN - Tracing Network Data Traffic

My immediate need is to verify that data I am streaming from the Wireless Access Point I set up on my Pi is passing through the OpenVPN tunnel to my VPN Provider. I connected my client to the AP SSID, then ran traceroute (or tracert on windows) is a good tool to run on a client to see what path you...

Thanks! I'll have a look.

I think I have everything setup per the documentation James sent. Have you seen anything out of spec? I *have* run OpenVPN, but then I killed it.

Re: RPi as VPN Router and Wireless Access Point. Possible??

What ports are open on your RPi? ssh isn't enabled by default now. I enabled SSH when I re-flashed the fresh Jessie image at the beginning of this thread, by adding file "ssh" to boot sector. I've been working headless, except for when I've been unable to access via SSH, for whatever reason. sudo n...

Re: RPi as VPN Router and Wireless Access Point. Possible??

Adafruit has a very useful tutorial: https://learn.adafruit.com/setting-up-a-raspberry-pi-as-a-wifi-access-point/overview Thanks! If I understand this correctly, with a console cable, I can access my Pi without an HDMI monitor or keyboard. In other words, I should be able to connect the pins to my ...

How to Bypass Process During Boot

Howdy! Using my Pi attached to an HDMI monitor, and during boot, there is a process "Raise Network Interfaces", which I assume means its looking for access to the web or some other interface which is not present. The wait on this is "unlimited", which seems to mean about two minutes. Is there a comm...

When I connect to the SSID with my laptop, my Pi appears on the network.

Re: RPi as VPN Router and Wireless Access Point. Possible??

Power down your RPi then reboot (or power cycle) your router. Power up your RPi in AP mode. Then run your experiments again. Did that. It worked fine for a while. I started up the VPN and it continued to function, though I don't know know if all data was indeed passing through the tunnel. I left fo...

Re: RPi as VPN Router and Wireless Access Point. Possible??

Doug, Last night I rebooted my Pi and lost network contact with it. The new SSID on my Pi was broadcasting however, and though windows complained that the connection did not have internet access, I could connect to the RF with a wireless device. When I scanned the AP network, my Pi appeared with two...

Doug, It is functioning. I checked everything in the first part and followed the steps in the second part of the document, EXCEPT for adding "denyinterfaces eth0" in /etc/dhcpcd.conf. I'm afraid that if I add that, I'm going to be left with no working TCP/IP interfaces and locked out of network acce...

Did some restarts and the new SSID appeared. I was able to connect to it with a wireless device, but there's no internet connectivity through the AP. I'm on the web on the PI via SSH/VNC

This is where I'm really wondering about the two static ip addresses I mentioned above...

Did you get this figured out? I see myself running into the same issue(s), eventually. Currently, I'm interested in getting this to work on my current network. Sounds like that's working for you?

Re: RPi as VPN Router and Wireless Access Point. Possible??

I've refreshed the image and done the basic setups once more, including backups of config and interface files. My setup has my Pi connected to a wireless router via an ethernet cable. So... This may seem like a stupid question, but.... Do each of these sections stand alone, or do I follow the...
