Re: raspivid issues, against which repo to report?

That would depend on whether your issue is raspivid hangs indefinitely (v1 camera): https://github.com/raspberrypi/firmware/issues or $ echo $? 0 For the latter, might I suggest making a pull request against https://github.com/raspberrypi/userland/pulls . adding the necessary modifications to return...

Re: Fastest way to transfer FBO from GPU to CPU memory

There is an example of this technique inside "raspistill". There is an operating mode that will pipe the camera output to an opengl texture, and then render a scene using the texture. In the VCSM_Square example, it shows how to access the pixels in a scene that has been rendered to a FBO. The VCSM t...

Busting for Buster? Try it today!

By now I imagine by now there must be a fair few people out there who literally can't wait for the next version of Debian/Raspbian and all of the juicy updated packages it will bring. Just imagine: * Python 3.5 -> 3.7 * NodeJS 4.8.2 -> 10.15.1 * GCC 6 -> 8 * CLang 4 -> 7 * FFMpeg 3.2 -> 4.1 * GStrea...

Re: MMAL error ..failed to enable port

I haven't run the code (it looks fine), but something which will produce this exact error is if you are trying to access the camera from two applications. You don't have another camera app running in the background? Is the script being run twice? To demonstrate: # Check your camera really is attache...

Nintendo OS?

So, I was on the lookout for an SD card from our friends at RS Components and stumped across this: https://au.rs-online.com/web/p/sd-cards/1259290/ Programmed 16GB SD card - Nintendo OS RS Stock No. 125-9290 Mfr. Part No. Rpi_NintendoOS Manufacturer: Nintendo On back order for despatch 17/05/2019 Di...

Re: MMAL resizer?

Just to reiterate, here is a "minimal" example that shows the same issue with the resize component, as in the original post of the thread. I am quite confident the real problem is with the video_splitter, I'm just not sure whether its intended behaviour or not. Setting the input format has no effect...

Re: MMAL resizer?

Sorry this might have been more suitable for a new thread, but from memory the same issue pops up when using the "vc.ril.resize" component. If you follow the log trace from the above posts they hit the same error at the same point. That's how I found the thread! MMAL: mmal_connection_create(&connect...

Re: MMAL resizer?

Sorry to resurrect an old issue, but its hard to beat a classic. The solution of using MMAL_ENCODING_I420 works, but it is too slow when using large frames from the camera with multiple resized encoder outputs. Using MMAL_ENCODING_OPAQUE_OPAQUE should work, and it does! A quick recap of how to repro...

Re: Readonly Root with OverlyFS

Just an update, I'd been using this method for read-only FS quite successfully for some time. https://gist.githubusercontent.com/niun/34c945d70753fc9e2cc7/raw/3d60338cd8d8daf740692f426a5a1ec17839d613/root-ro Updated some images to 2017-04-10-raspbian-jessie-lite.img, and the image would no longer bo...

Re: libjpeg-turbo svn with jpeg8 for raspbian.

Hello! The original link is dead, but it turns out it is fairly easy to compile and install the library yourself. This will only take 5 minutes :) # Remove existing jpeg library, you can leave libjpeg62-turbo as it doesn't seem to confict sudo apt-get remove libjpeg8-dev sudo apt-get remove libjpeg8...

Camera streaming latency increases at low bitrates?

Hi all! I playing around with your typical camera streaming viewer over a wifi connection application, streaming video from a RPI3 with camera module to a local computer, but with intent of using a low bandwidth link between the RPI and local computer. Right now I'm still testing over a <10ms ping w...
