Re: Google Meet: screen sharing not possible in Chromium

I have the exact same issue. I've been thrilled to have my son homeschooling on a Raspberry Pi 4 that I set up for him, using Google Meet all day long, but last week he had to deliver a presentation and I had to resort to a separate laptop for that purpose. Thankfully he's not delivering presentatio...

Re: mount.exfat out of memory during rsync

No. My best command is still the second one:
sudo rsync --delete --partial --ignore-errors --no-perms --no-owner --no-group -rvzhtiP --exclude nextcloud/ --no-inc-recursive --modify-window=3601 /srv/dev-disk-by-label-HDDCOPY/ /mnt/backup-exfat/

Oh, nice! I had these on iOS and then on Android. Lovely little games :)

Does this run in a non-X11 environment? And does it have controller support?

Re: USB 3.0 hubs unreliable on Pi4

I can confirm that, other than the hot swap issues I had, if I leave things stable there are no more errors.

Thanks!

Re: USB 3.0 hubs unreliable on Pi4

When I plugged it to the UH700 hub it failed, similar to the other hub, but - I'll be honest - in a much less spectacular fashion. Here are the logs, which I had to trim (and add notes where it was just repeating previous ones): That sounds like a hub problem. I have a different hub with a corroded...

Re: USB 3.0 hubs unreliable on Pi4

So, everything had been going well, the hub had two drives connected to it and today a third drive arrived, to replace an older one that I had decommissioned earlier in the week. It all went downhill when I plugged it in - thankfully I only had one drive mounted (though it was the main drive - the o...

Re: USB 3.0 hubs unreliable on Pi4

Thanks for that, but you haven’t stayed which kernel you’re on. I’m going to assume it’s still 4.x? I guess that would indicate that even hubs on usb 2.0 are vulnerable to reliability problems. The issue with your directly-connected drive could well have been power-related. Me personally, if I had ...

Re: USB 3.0 hubs unreliable on Pi4

I did promise an update, so here's a preliminary one. After a few days I got the same error using the original hub in the USB 2.0 ports. On the flipside, the drive that I connected directly to the USB 3.0 port worked perfectly fine, so that was great. That is, until I decided to change the USB hub a...

Re: USB 3.0 hubs unreliable on Pi4

Glad to help! We'd all be glad if you could come back and let us know how it went, if you try upgrading the kernel. It looks promising, considering my and djmagic2k3's experience. And I can see why it would be confusing, but yes, it's actually possible to backfeed power to the Pi via a powered USB ...

Re: USB 3.0 hubs unreliable on Pi4

With all these powered hubs, I think the first thing to do when having reliability problems is to check if they are back feeding power to the Pi. If they are, I think it's possible the resulting currents that could happen when loads change might cause a reset or worse. Sorry, I'm not aware of a &qu...

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate the availability. I'm happy to oblige, though a brief search didn't turn up a clear way on how to provide the info you're looking for, apologies. I'll try to dig into it during the week, but if anyone wants to give me a nudge in the right direction I'd be very much...

mount.exfat out of memory during rsync

Hi all, Apologies for the topic. I've searched a fair bit by now and I can't find much so I thought I'd ask here. I am trying to run rsync between 2 local 4TB USB drives on a RPi 3B+ - an EXT4 one and a EXFAT one. The rsync process had been running for a few days and at some point it failed with the...

Re: GPU memory problem

Just to add to the above solution (or workaround, as you prefer :) ), to make the change permanent, and as it needs to be applied after reboot... Create a file called /usr/local/sbin/disable-drm-pm : #!/bin/bash [ -n "$1" ] || exit 1 echo "on" > "/sys/$1/power/control"...

smbd-notifyd out of memory with large files

Hi, Apologies for bothering. I've had quite a few Pis so far for several projects, and recently decided to try out OpenMediaVault on an unused Raspberry Pi 3B (not the +) I had here, using a wired connection, and an external USB drive formatted as ext4. OMV is installed in the SD card. Everything ha...

Re: Acestream on Kodi 17 fails a lot

Hi Rascas, Good to have your perspective in that you didn't find any changes between 16 and 17 when playing acestreams. I haven't tested it out with a clean install, I may certainly try that and see how it goes. My 16 setup is working fine for now - I may back it up later in the week and then force ...

Acestream on Kodi 17 fails a lot

Hi all, Apologies for the trouble, just wanted to give more of a FYI but also potentially ask if anyone is experiencing this and what workarounds people have. In particular I know Rascas was involved in porting this, and may have some thoughts - or at least would like to be made aware of the context...

Re: Daphne - RetroPi (Pi3) - NO emulator showing

Hi. I ran into this as well.

The ~/ folder is also known as /home/pi, and your guess is absolutely right. At least in my case, copying

/etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg to /home/pi/.emulationstation/es_systems.cfg solved it.

Hope it helps.
